• 1.4kg lamb's pluck, (heart, lungs and liver)
• 500g of beef, or lamb trimmings or stewing steak
• 200g of suet
• 500g of oatmeal, (coarse)

SEASONING (ADJUST TO TASTE)

• 2 tbsp of black pepper, ground
• 1 nutmeg, finely grated
• 4 tbsp of coriander seeds
• 4 tbsp of fine sea salt

Place in a pan of cold water , bring to the boil and simmer for 1½-2 hours .

You lost me right away at #1, ox lung,
Might have brought me back at #2 with the hearts, but then added liver (which isn't always a deal killer) but then lost me again doubling down on lungs.
#3? Okay, lamb trimmings and stew meat please. Oh, wait, the lungs are still in there,,,, no thanks.
#4, suet? Right on, bring it! (The "lipid theory" is bad science and wrong) OH, yeah, lungs....

The seller could have checked with H&H as a first move. But if this one has Indian and cast repro parts it's not something H&H would have turned out. They would have worked the parts into a quality piece they could put their name on. It could be a fake version of H&H's 1976 A&F order. After 5 pages of comment they've beaten this one to death.

Good eating in deed and with a good peated Isla single malt like Lagauwlin I`m in heaven.!
Single malt is like a fine flintlock, you just have to admire it!

They are pretty far outside American eating habits. Not the worst thing I've ever eaten, certainly not something I'd seek out again.

I'd say it's pretty good. Surprised this thread has hung in there as long as it has, still hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit. They closed down the "Goex Sold" thread for a lot less "thread drift".

These were made by H&H. I had one of these. The barrel is indeed proofed and it's a good barrel. The stock is so so. It has an overall nice look to it. Where it goes off the rails is the lock. It copies nothing in particular. The effect is something like a commercial maker, more or less a pattern 1756. The pan is unbridled. I do have a Watkin 1745 Bess that has an unbridled pan, but the lock plate is much straighter. The lock was not functional. The frizzen was too soft and cock was too big and hit too high, so I fit another cock. The mainspring was also whimpy. I tried to harden and temper it, but no go. I finally put in a mainspring from a rifle shoppe Bess, but it had to be fit. If I still had it I would consider just making a commercial Bess of some sort out it. The price of this one at auction does not warrant that, in my opinion.
