A good day at the range today. Only fired about 10 rounds. When cleaning I tried to get the nipple out and it was the most difficult one I can remember. Siezed is probably a bit strong but even when I got it loose it continued to be a mother to unscrew, After about 3 turns my hand was so sore ( 3" bar ) I changed tactics. I put in my bucket of water and gave it a few pumps, pulled it out and the nipple was still tight as hell. I figured I must be pulling crud up with it in the threads so I screwed it back in about a full turn and that was enough to clear it . I always put a tiny dab of oil on the threads after cleaning and wipe off any excess before screwing it back in. I was wondering if any of you have a more reliable method.

I have put cylinder in toaster oven for a while when they get tough to remove. Also made nipple wrench from a 1/4 drive socket to get better leverage.
Generally I just use oil on threads.

Nickel never seize now. Have used other things with good results too, but once you buy some never seize then you have a lifetime supply.

White Lithium grease, just a touch. And the nipple doesn't need to be torqued down to white knuckles levels. It only needs to be a bit snug.

Next question- you shooting real black?

Never had one seize that bad. When cleaning, I initiallyt leave the nipple in place to clean the innard, then pull it and finish my hot water routine, so plenty of water is pumping through the nipple aperture. Dry thoroughly and coat the bore, I then swab the nipple port with a twist of cotton cloth to be sure to dry it thoroughly and hit it with a shot of wd-40 , again swabbing for excess. A light coat of oil to the nipple threads and reinstall. My guess is yours had a bit of moisture/crud that further rusted a bit holding it in place.

I use hi temp grease, found in any gun store.

Go to an auto parts store and get some anti-seize.
Bees’s wax works too, but is a little stiff.
You are not one of those people that over torques everything, are you?

I much prefer RIG, which is basically grease, over anti-seize, which seems to get on everything in the room once you touch it! It only takes a little dab on the first couple threads. I believe the key is don't tighten the nipple beyond very light pressure with the wrench.

When I worked for industry, Ease Off 990 was used for turbine bolts in 1200F applications. At the time, nothing else worked. It is expensive and no doubt overkill for you application. I use Neverseeze on breech plugs, not much into percussion.

Hey Bang, don’t want to sound condescending but why not use a bit of anti seize and be done with? Toaster? Special wrench? Really?

I have used it for years, anti-seize
