Looking for a builder who could do an expert, sympathetic cracked stock repair on an original musket - original Pre Rev War Brown Bess - 1740 Pattern wood ram rod no nose cap.
The crack is small, no missing wood, under lock across stock bottom. Damaged in shipping. This is a rare gun, regimentally marked, and basically untouched and 100% original - not replaceable in other words. It has to be repaired - but I don't want to try to ship this again if at any way possible.

But ONLY the best and most knowledgeable gun builder/smith will do - NO WAY would I trust a basic gun smith.

Any experts within a 2 hour drive from Atlanta area?

Try deer creek in marietta off fairground rd. 40 year gunsmith, zack. When you take it in you will see what they specialize in. No Ar's in the shop. All BP related or 80% +. Limited hours, 9 to 4 tues to friday due to family health concerns. Regardless if you choose them or not for the repair, well worth the trip. Heck you might find an original twin of your rifle in the shop. This is not a basic gunsmith in a gunshop type place. 40 years, 4 generation shop in the same location.

Thank you everyone! I know Deer Creek very well!!! Thats my go to supplier.
I also reached out to a good friend - head of Arms at the Atlanta History Center - see if he knows of local.
Reaching out to a builder in Warrior AL as well - about a 3 hour drive but thats fine.
Any others let me know! God Bless all.

We have family in Marietta. Went to Deer Creek for the 1st time this year. Enjoyed talking with them, they were certainly knowledgeable in their conversations. Well stocked old time store that dug into some tubs and found exactly the parts I was looking to purchase. I have not had any repairs done there, however they did show some repairs they made to a breech, lock & drum and the quality looked good to me.
