finished playing with my horn. uh, powder horn that is. cut it between the wedding rings and made a dowel from elk antler for a stopper. drilled and glued the dowel into the lower piece.
cut and bent some brass rod and made a strap attachment on the upper ring with the ends going into two of the holes in the ring. blackened the brass with bluing. the rest of the day spent washing dishes. please don't take away my man card!
i hate sleeping alone.

Been buys....but I have to be honest, this is doings this week and not today. Wed. and thursday, melted down into ingots and fluxed about 3o lbs of lead, and started casting .54 cal. balls. Between wed. and thursday, cast about 500. I wish I had a .570 mold and I would have started on a years worth of that.
Saturday I went to my clubs open ML shoot: strictly patch and ball. I brought both my old Lyman percussion gpr, and my Lyman Pedersoli GPR flinter. I spent about four hours shooting, around thirty shots total, various targets. Did best on the off hand fifty and the novelty targets, but certainly dont anticipate bringing home any bacon. It was my first open shoot, and had alot of fun. Today I hope to inlet the lock on my Kibler Colonial.

Re working the Poor boy flintlock I assembled a few years ago. Stripped it down to its essential components over the past couple of weeks, stripped the old finish off the stock, going to replace the barrel pins and work on the trigger. Right now I'm experimenting with different finishes for the stock.

Well after making a mess of my August members shoot target...I shot this one at 50 yds off hand. Go figure? 50 gr T7, .015 patch, .490 ball. Smoky but no wind.

Had a weird one today too....all set, cap on the nipple...aim, set trigger and.....cap went pop like normal but lots of smoke and PHSSSSSSSSST! out the barrel. No hole in target, no ball stuck in barrel. just gone. Did it just go a few feet and drop? Vaporize? First one I've had like that. After much pondering and checking, shot several times after that and all went fine. Hmmmm.....

Sorted through an old shooting bag full of stuff to see what I can sell here. And I put some bids in on some tasty muzzleloader for a big online auction on Saturday. Sold an unmentionable.

Spent time with a nice cigar and a glass of scotch some music and cleaned 3 of my BP firearms, two being Percussion muzzle loaded. 1863 Springfield rifle, 1854 Johnson Pistol and the 3rd 1880 Trapdoor Carbine 45-70. Shot BP Brass cases rounds with it. Yeah I know that one doesn’t count 🙄 😝
Yes sir....that one sure does count....my son loves his 45-70!

This morning I sent an order and down payment to Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading for one of their Late Lancaster rifles, 54 caliber flintlock with maple stock and "aged steel" finish and matte brass trim. It's a retirement gift to myself after 39 years in law enforcement. The rifle will take about 1 year to be built and sent to me. A long wait, but well worth it. In the meantime, I'll keep shooting my T/C Renegade .50 that I've had since the late 1970s.

When do we get to see it and who built it for you.
How about now? Forum member Gangreen ... his first build some time back from Track of the Wolf kit I think. Dale BTW: His pictures from ad
