I am looking at one of these in kit form. They are available in cap or flint. I own several cap handguns, but particularly like the stock/grip shape of these and I do like smoothbore and it looks like the cap is smooth while the flint is rifled.
I have read negative stories on Pedersoli's flint guns. I would prefer flint, but not at the expense of reliability. It will be a shooter/not a wall hanger.
Any of you built one of these kits in either form? Any issues with either one?

Guess nobody has owned one of these.
Just generally how reliable are Pedersoli flint pistols?

I don't own one but thinking of getting one. My gripe in looking at these is why they made the flintlock a rifled version and they could have easily done it in 54 cal. I am willing to take a chance on one.

Type in “Pedersoli Harpers ferry pistol” into the search feature of this forum. There are several pages of posts about them.

Yes, I tried that. Most of the posts concern ones for sale. Didn't see anything on assembly or issues with the lock on the flinter.

Edit to add
My bad. Didn't go back enough pages.

I bought one recently as a kit from DGW and it was a lot of fun to assemble/finish. It works great, very reliable with English flints, that is. I highly recommend it.

These pistols date back to the 1960s and the only large bore barrels the Italians were making were for the Zouave (at first). The pistol barrels were made using the same tooling and it was never changed. The same reason the 1803 Harpers Ferry rifle was made in .58. BTW, both feature shallow rifling for minie balls.
