Hello to all.
The last two times I’ve taken my rifles to shoot I couldn’t see my sights clearly. The front sight almost disappears. I tried blackening with a marker but didn’t help. I figured old age was changing things quickly. I turn 61 tomorrow.

However after a trip to the eye doc I found I have a macular hole in my right eye. It caused blank spots in my right eye. No wonder I couldn’t see my sights.
I go in for surgery in a couple days. I sure hope they do a good job repairing it. I really don’t want to shoot my flintlocks left handed. I have enough flinching issues now.
Please keep me in your prayers.
It seems this is not too uncommon of an issue. I was in a car accident a few weeks ago. They say this could’ve caused it.

You got them my fellow muzzleloader.!🙏
Hope all goes well with the surgery! Two pointers to help eradicate flinching: 1. Have a dependable gun that you know is going to go boom when you pull the trigger. 2. Get lots of repetitive shooting under your belt.

Good luck with your eye surgery, I do hope it gets corrected. Eye surgery can be slow to heal for some reason. I had surgery on my dominant right eye 6 months ago to correct a blind spot on the retina. There is no way to tell how much improvement there will be and the eye is still a bit painful if rubbed. So I can empathize with you. I have another follow-up appt. in a few days so I'll find out what improvement there's been since the last follow-up visit. I'll be 75 in a few months so there is a limit for us oldsters. Just be optimistic but patient.

Thanks for the kind and encouraging words from everyone. Oh yea. One other bit of fun. I must sit/sleep/ live face down for 5-7 days! Plus I can’t do anything for 3 weeks.
I've already started canceling my fishing charter customers.
But yes. It will be fine. Lots of others have worse problems.
