I have used USPS several times with no issues. I ship Click and Ship from home. Make label on computer, put package on porch and it goes with no problems. I receive same way, on porch. Of course, packaging must be secure. I have used the $10.00 hard plastic gun cases from Walmart. Cardboard packaging can be a lot more expensive.

I prefer to ship or receive UPS Store to UPS Store... boxed in a cheap box-marx case and then wraped and boxed again with a receipt for the product. This method, the liability is on UPS for damage during transport. While it does add typically 35 clams to the cost, it is simply worth it for me.

UPS stores will not take guns in any shape, form or age. UPS will accept them at their distribution centers (45 miles away from me) or you can do this: Go online to UPS, buy and print a label, put it on your package and take it to the UPS store. I have done this and they took it without asking or even blinking when I handed them the package.

I still prefer USPS and no you don't have to tell them what is in the package and no they cannot ask! They can only ask they usual questions about hazardous or prohibited (muzzleloaders aren't) contents. Adult signature required

Thanks for all the info. I have used USPS and never had a problem, but right now I am still waiting for 2 packages shipped the 1st week of Nov. via USPS. Two other packages were lost in the last month.
I'll try FedEx until USPS gets over their current troubles.

So glad to hear nice things about the United States Post Office.

They threw my neighbors mail into the woods.

Backed into my truck, smashed out the tail light, bent the bumper and left.

I get everyone else's mail on the route periodically.

After my mailbox was wrecked I bought a new one. The mail person promptly bent the mail box door.

Pretty much I prefer the old days when carriers took their guns to work. It was a different crowd.

They also deliver junk mail at discount prices to the sender.

If I was shipping something valuable in the continental US, I would drive it there before I mailed it.

I just shipped a ML barrel from Iowa to Florida via USPS. Mailed it last Thursday & it got there Monday. I've always had the best luck with USPS for some reason. UPS breaks lots of guns & I stopped using them years ago. When a forklift tire track is imprinted on the box, UPS says you didn't pack it correctly. I don't think they have paid an insurance claim yet.

Seems your problem is local.

I had a problem with my local carrier. Went to my local Post Master and received a very flippant answer.

Went and visited my local U.S. Representative. Received a nice letter from the head of the U.S.P.S in Dallas shortly after my visit.

Soon after I had a new mail carrier and our Post Master retired.

Hi. I shipped a packages to MikinPa. I shipped it Priority 0n Dec 16th. My problem is that the slow delivery causes doubt about me. Mike can, rightly, ask himself, "did he really ship it or have I been taken?" I have offered him his money back if not received by Monday … but I ask "where is the package?" Dale

I shipped a rifle from NC to Oh on Monday and it got there yesterday. Insured and in a wooden crate for $39
