We have talked about chisels and we talked about files. No one has mentioned cabinet scrapers! Being a woodworker I find that they are a "must have"! They are reasonably priced and easily sharpened. A wonderful aide in shaping a stock!

Good evening

I have a beat up old smoke pole
Using it to practice and improve my skills

I'm going to do some work to the stock
And want to get the pfeil 6 piece palm set

Also, I am draw filing the barrel
Is there a better file to use

Thank you

One of the best friends you can have for barrel flat draw filing is a barrel spinner with a square sided beam between the centers. It allows full length strokes and keeps the file flat to the surface. They are also really great for their intended purpose of spinning a round barrel against a belt sander to remove lathe and file marks.

I have FlexCut palm chisels and Mikisyo chisels and like them a lot. Am going to order a Solingen 6mm and 12mm full sized straight chisel. Like any quality tool, they are expensive. So . . . I'm just buying one or two at a time.

I've been a fan of Flex-Cut chisels for some time. I recently purchased four piece sets of their micro chisels in both straight & skew configurations. Both sets in 1/16", 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4". What a wonderful addition to the bench!
