Eutycus started a thread that drew quite a bit of response about salvaging an old powder horn. Many of you commented, including myself. This got me thinking (and that can be dangerous). I'd like to see some pictures of some the powder horns you have made. I've made a few over the years, nothing fancy but serviceable and I've notice that some of you are gifted in making that kind of stuff. Let's bring them out and show them off with, perhaps, a little explanation as to how they came to be.

Old one. Made it for a friends retirement. Map is his area of the Adirondacks.
The base was made from a piece of apple from the wood pile.

Stippling on that one. I knew a guy that made full size posters, Indian women, horses, snakes and Southwest landscapes. One dot at a time.
Mind blowing it didn't make him blind.
This one is for Clyde. Loves to watch me shoot out back. Cant take him hunting, he has setter brains and would be gone.
Has a few years left in him. Doesn't know it but this is his urn. I'll date it, glue in the spout and hang him up with the guns on the wall.
He thinks his job is protecting me from the fox, pictured on the back.
I think getting that Celtic knot thingy around the top was the hardest part.

This is my first and only horn so far. I did it after reading the How-To book by the Sibleys, which I strongly recommend. I put my ancestor's name and the year 1753 on one side, and "Of All The Leffons Ye Muft Recall, Firft the Powder, Then the Ball" on the other. I don't know where I read that powder horn inscription, but it comes in handy when your friends "dry ball" a load during a shooting match.

Hammock. Bike. Cabelas tent.
Roughing it? That must be her feet? :p :):thumb: She looks comfortable.
Well I built the bike out of scrap soda cans with a Swiss army knife while hiking the Appalachian trail and wore my hiking boots clean off. I bought the tent to replace my buck skins that had been ripped off by a bear. I made a 80s era parachute jacket and pants set out of it.
