Went through Pittsfield, MA once by accident....you know...coming from VT, you'd think there'd be a sign like "Now Entering MA" but nope! I am sorry for you too!

Hope you get your powder. Next time I pass though Winchester,VA, I'll pick some up from that store there myself.
I'm guessing you are talking about Back Creek Gun Shop. Tell Jackie I said "Hey."

Hi Everyone!
I live in Massachusetts. I know, I am sorry to! Anyone can tell me whole sells the real thing in MA, RI, NH, VT or Maine?
I know about Maine Powder house I was just hoping there might be somewhere else also.
Not really up for the 5 lb minimum. That would be a lifetime of powder for me at this point, tho that just might be the way to go.
Freaking Grafs won't sell to MA tho I can get powder and such for the unmentionables from all kinds of places.
Thanks All. BB
Just for information, BP here in SE PA is at $30/lb. Not too many months ago it was $25, but everything shooting-related is up. Now, as we get closer to the election, and there's another buying panic as in 2016, all bets are off. Buy what you want now while you can afford! Although the BP community is affected less than the general modern-arms market. The virus-related buying panic was only the tip of the iceberg!
Boston Bill: Buy 5 pounds. Set aside what you think you'll need and the next time you see a muzzleloader at the range, mention that you've got some extra powder at a fair price. You won't have it long.

Wow! Good idea!

I'm in MA and have purchased BP from Kittery in person without even showing my MA credentials. I have also walked smokeless long arms out the door and BP rifles and pistols as well. I have also had firearms shipped to a LGS by them on occasion. Unlike MA where I have to show a LTC or similar credential to buy even lead round balls.
That's shocking! Having to show ID to buy lead balls! People can make them at home! What' next, Beto becoming the face of gun control?

Blame your Attorney General who sent all the threating letters to FFL suppliers and dealers. I got one that stated it would be a felony charge to ship to a non dealer in MA.

That was any ammo components or powder. As a former Fire investigator in MA with out a permit from the fire dept you could not buy any powder black or smokeless. Members of my own dept could not get a permit for any BP. Limit in my city was 5 pounds total for smokeless and no BP. I kept my BP at my second home in NH for that reason. Why my DW and I moved to NH in 1985.

Ship to MA I don't think so. You need to take a drive to Kittery Trading post. Maine don't care where your from it is legal there.

Anymore I can say will have to be in a different forum on this site.

I recently found out that as a MA resident I have to get a LTC in order to buy black powder. I'm not particularly interested in carrying a gun ( no judgment ) and I find it galling that in order to shoot a flintlock I first have to get an LTC.
EDIT: I don't know why there isn't a special dispensation for muzzle loading.

I would have thought an FID card would be enough just to buy black powder. Where are you in MA? I am on the Cape.

edit: I just went to the MASS-GOV site, have all the info.

I'm on the N Shore, Gloucester. Maybe I'm wrong about the LTC ? How does one go about getting an FID card ? I'm joining a shooting club in my area ( Danvers), also aware of a test I need to take. Anything else ? Am a recent transplant to MA from AK.

The people in your local club may give the test to qualify for the FID or LTC. If they don't they will advise you where to go. Local gun shops do the tests to. Then you take the certificate to the PD of the town you live in. Then you wait. Due to the virus I think the processing has pretty much stopped. You picked a bad time to come to this anti gun state.

Depending where you are in MA you could also drive up to Manchester, NH. Wildlife Sport Outfitters carries Goex BP. I believe I paid $28 per pound. Just call ahead and make sure they have what you need in stock.
