Recently tried to place a mail order with Cabela's and found they have a new policy on black power firearms. Has anyone have any idea why they went this way. It will surely create sales with other internet vendors.

Hello Paul,
I am so sorry the outfitters that you had spoken with were not able to tell you the new restriction. This was new to all of Bass Pro and Cabela's as of 1/15/2020. "Effective 1/15/2020 all black powder and muzzleloaders will only be available as “In-Store Pick Up”. This includes all online orders and call center orders. Restrictions will be added to all of the affected SKU’s"

Thank you for visiting cabelas.com.

Sincerely,
Vicki N.

Yes, it is a shame that happened. BPS flagship store is only a little over 100 miles from me. It is considered an anchor in the fishing, hunting, camping, boating industries. One of their boat factories is near me and is a major, and important, employer for the area. But, as the company grows, it seems, as said, some of the 'snowflake' attitude is becoming a part of the upper management team. Pity.

It is sad Cabelas was bought out by BPS. I'm sure the owners had good reasons, money and others for the decision, but it seemed shortly after Cabelas changed and not in a good way. It is hard to understand how one incident is now causing problems for all of us.

Cabelas was first bought out buy an avoricious New York business rapist who wrung every thing he could out of the company and then sold, for a profit of course, to BP. BP isn't running Cabelas into the ground, it was run into the ground buy a greedy bastard.

Doesn't matter who pee'd in the punch if you are the one still serving it to the customers.

Even some of the better gun supply websites like midway have stepped up the rules. I ordered a traditions kit last fall and they wouldn't ship it to Illinois. In illinois blackpowder guns dont require FFL or waiting period but they wouldn't do it even with a box of wood, steel and parts. Not even close to a shootable gun at that point

Seen a segment on Tucker Carlson (FOX NEWS) on the buy out and the flipping of the shares for big profits from that NYC greedy $@&”%#^*.
Anyway, it destroyed the good people of Sydney Nebraska! That towns life blood depending on Cabela’s. Had an interview with the local lumber yard there. Their business is now almost nonexistent due to the fact that no one is building houses in Sydney anymore!

Cabela’s employed a good majority of the local people there. People are now trying to get any job that they can find?

NYC liberal elite destroyed that hard working Blue Collar town at the expense of those hard working people. So Sad!!

Lastly, I remember coming back from Wyoming after visiting my folks. The wife and I stopped in Sydney Nebraska at a Perkins Restaurant for breakfast. I remember looking out of their window at the booth we were sitting at and saw that extremely large Cabela’s emblem painted on their Water Tower. It was quite impressive!! The good people of Sydney gave their life’s blood to Cabela’s. All the local businesses depended on that company! Once striving and now a shell of its former self.

That Big Wig NYC selfish piece of manure destroyed Sydney and the good people of Sydney NE.

Respectfully, Cowboy

Maybe the people of Sydney should not have put all their eggs in one basket. And how could the greedy so and so from NYC pull this off unless the greedy so and so’s from Cabela’s office didnt have the company up for sale?

WOW! Very informative.

Sadly to say that Sydney is a shell of its self now. A small little All American Town that took the brunt of the corporate elite who pleasures in greed and the lining of their own pockets.

I will admit that I’m a simple person. A good majority of the people who depended on that company only wanted to put meat on the table and pay their bills.

The majority I’m sure were not privy to the inner workings of the higher management elite or their selfish motives.

I’m sure the local small mom and pop business owners that depended on Cabela’s were not privy of the inner workings of high level management decisions either.

Bottom line, I’ll never give Bass Pro Shop/Cabela’s,another hard earned penny that I work for. Just like the good people of Sydney isn’t afforded that opportunity to work for that same penny.

Again, So Sad!

Ok, I’m lost. Been reading this post since it started and I simply do not understand. I believe this appears to be something similar to a feeding frenzy, whereas someone voices an opinion which is quickly pounced upon by another, and another until there is mass “feeding”. Or maybe not?!
I imagine that this was echoed over, and over, and over again as the factories shut down production lines to move overseas in an attempt to improve bottom line dollars throughout North America. While in reality few of the population could even afford to purchase items if produced here due to the costs involved. It appears that the masses support big industry through the najority of their purchases, because of costs and the limited budget within their household, yet scream and yell when “mom and pop” are forced to close their doors. It also appears that we always expect others to keep those businesses open, rather than spend our money. Face it folks, less than 1% of us have the money to keep small business in business! I’ve said before on this very site that I am a capitalist, and I maintain that as I am sure most, if not all, of you are as well. I highly doubt that anyone will stand up and say they are in fact otherwise (communist?). As I capitalist I believe that the trading of product for wealth is fundamental. I do not fault one person for buying a company, making the most out of it then selling. How could you? Especially if you are a capitalist. I also expect many of you have served your country in one form or another, to solidify this belief. Yet here we are bashing one of our own. Go back and read the posts then please help me clear my foggy mind of how I am misreading please. It is not up to any individual entrepreneur to ensure you have work, it is up to you and you alone! Now I will state that illegal, or otherwise immoral business is not capitalism, but criminalism. That one cannot justify.

Trading a product for wealth is fundamental and making the most out of a company and selling it too, but that isn't what happened in this case.
What happened was, the company (or rather shares in the company) was bought with the intent of selling it by force or coercion to make a profit. Just a quick buck at the expense of 2000 hard working people. When Capitalism has no regard for the worker, the natural outcome will be to embrace socialism.

I personally couldn’t disagree with you anymore than I do now!

Also not gonna bring in capitalism vs communism.

Not gonna make comments about people jumping on bandwagons either.

Veteran’s serving their country is irrelevant to this topic, which I am one!

Believe that everyone has a right to voice their opinions based on personal experience and observations without fear of lectures.

Again, I disagree with most of everything you said. Regardless, everyone has an opinion though and I can definitely respect that.

You stated that you don’t understand but proceeded to lecture us on Capitalism, jumping on the band wagon, and telling us what we might or might not admit to when it comes to our personal political beliefs? Being a Veteran has nothing to do with this conversation what so ever. You threw that in as well!

I will end by saying, I have nothing more to say? I will agree to disagree.

Respectfully, Cowboy
