I wasn't on the forum much this summer and completely missed this thread until it popped up recently. Finally went through it today. Some amazing photos by many, but Brits...all those butterfly pictures are incredible. Amazing clarity and detail. Thanks for starting this thread!

Here's some effective camo! A barred owl in a birch tree in winter. I photographed this near my home.

Seems to be missing the stripe from the corner of the mouth down.
I'd say a Swainson's hawk if it weren't for that bib on its chest, sooooo........Broad-winged hawk.
Ex was a birder and I'll be damned if I'll ask her.
I think your right; Broad Winged Hawk!
Its certainly not a Swanson's due to the chest, my book dont have a Broad Winged but a quick Google seems to say that's it! - I will name him "Fred"
