Anyone having trouble ordering casted parts from companies in England (EJ Blackly and Son) ?

I placed orders in July with shipping confirmations and no luck receiving it.

Thanks

E-mail him again and again until you get an answer.

I ordered a catalogue from him in July 2016 and e-mailed him in late August 2016 about it. He claimed that paypal screwed up, then he claimed it was sent, but had no shipping info only after 3 months did the catalogue show up (it's not a catalogue either, just a bunch of xerox's stapled together) and since it was about $23 USD including postage I decided that I wouldn't bother to EVER order anything from him - he seemed terminally disorganized.
just my experience anyway, Mike

Nothing has changed since the time about thirty years ago that I ordered a Queen Anne pistol kit from him. It took almost three years to get the barrel.

I have dealt with Blackley's for a long time and never had to wait the time which has been quoted , for some castings you may have to wait has he only cast them once a month but you can only speak has you find .

Absolutely terrible ! I ran the tracking number from Royal Mail services in England and they said the tracking number does not exist.

I doubt he even mailed it.

I've had to wait for casted part from the Rifle Shoppe but at least they tell me that their foundry is working on the castings.

never again.

Sorry to hear about that as I said you speak as you find , if it is a certain casting why not give Peter Dyson & Son a try they do have a webpage .
Hope that is off some help

Hi Feltwad,
I think there is a big difference in how Kevin treats folks on this side of the pond versus those in Britain. He likely is more accountable because his customer base is not very far away. I like Kevin but I am reluctant to order from him anymore because his service to America is so unreliable.

I recently finished up a set of castings of the Queen Anne pistol that I received from Kevin at E.J. Blackley.
I had no issues with the wait times and I found his customer service to be great. We communicated frequently via email and a phone call all of which was pleasant and professional. There was one hang up that I was informed of that delayed everything by about two weeks as they had a bad casting session for the frames that they then re-cast, but he was straightforward and let me know. Shipping was a bit of a wait, but that was mostly U.S. customs taking their sweet time.
I was a bit leary when I placed my order as I had read about different horror stories of kits that took years, no communication, etc... and was very happy to find that was not my experience at all.
I would suggest sending an email and asking what the current lead time is and any other concerns you have and take it from there.

Something that people must keep in mind when we're talking about special castings for antique guns is, most of the big casting houses that make steel and brass castings are producing parts for major buyers who are ordering thousands of castings. They only run small special lots of castings when they have time for it.

Small casting houses that can cast steel parts are few and often are spending their time making castings by the hundreds for other small commercial businesses. That leaves little time for making the special 25 or 75 gun castings that smaller businesses want to order.
This puts the person who wants to offer these special castings at a disadvantage and sometimes they get moved to the bottom of the delivery schedule because some larger, more profitable order has come in.

That explains why there are times that these special castings take months or more to deliver.
