Loose rear sight T/C Hawkin

Just noticed my rear sight on my T/C Hawkin is loose from side to side it can move about 2/16 to 3/16 each way.Before I take off the sight is there any idea what would be causing this i can only think of maybe the little ball fell out or the spring became week.Has not affected my accuracy at 50 yards.Or should I just leave well enough alone until it effects my accuracy.

Is the sight base loose, or the sight itself within the base?
I would think most likely the screws holding the base to the barrel are loose. Just tighten them up. Count your turns for your elevation adjustment prior to removing this screw so you can easily return to your zero.

My Renegade sight has wiggle if I grab it and move it, but not on its own.

2/16” or 1/8” seems like an awful lot of side to side movement. On a TC Hawken the sight radius is about 21” and a .125” sight movement would change your point of impact over 10” at 50 yards, yet you say it doesn’t hurt your accuracy?

Requested photo because if sight is truly moving as much as you say, you either have the wrong parts assembled or something is broken and should be obvious in a photograph.

It seems to me that if that much movement doesn’t affect your accuracy, you’re not a very good shot!

Just kidding. When you move it, does it return to the correct position on its own?

No it does not move freely,like you say i have to actually move it by hand doesn’t move on its own.It holds zero I just thought it is strange that it moves.

If it moves and doesn't hold zero, then its time to install a fixed sight and replace that adjustable one.

I suspect its slop in the hinge pin. You could replace the pin, however I feel it is a non issue. You can easily count the clicks it takes to bottom out the sight elevation screw, then remove it fully to inspect things. Be aware there is a spring underneath the sight. When you reinstall, bottom the elevation screw out once again and count the clicks back to your zero setting.

Use a spring from a click ball point spring. Cut a few rings off at a time till it’ll fit between the sight base and the sight leaf.

I had a Investarms Hawken that would do the same thing.

Never owned a TC Hawken that did this.....

Could someone have installed a Investarms sight on a TC ?

I think the holes in the barrel match....

Well i took the spring out and used a spring i had from gun parts and cut it to a snug fit problem solved.thanks for all the input.
