I use a fifty caliber ammo can. Everything except the rod fits in it. Put small items and patches in .22 cci plastic slide top containers. Powder in the brass pourer. All fits, compact. Works with table top or tailgate well.

Now that's really neat! It makes you wonder as to what else is out there that people have come up with.
I like it! Small enough to carry around but with everything you would need in it. Thanks for the post.

LD ,that's pretty much the way I think about it.
Ok nkbj, I'll bite what is it?

It's an old steel box picked up for a couple of bucks at a charity resale shop with partitions added and covered with corduroy to hold premeasured powder charges. My way of going traditional for my heavy bullet pieces.

I'm thinking of building a range box and was wondering if anyone out there has any input or even some pics of their own designs?

Agreed, they look very functional.
Thank you szwedj for the pics.
I can see right now that I will have more than one box, lol! If I tried to incorporate all in one box I'd end up with a foot locker !

Great looking boxes Guys, the only thing I see missing on the last one , besides the kitchen sink was a pistol stand....

Still a fantastic design and well built box...

Some of the Guys in S. Fl I shot with had some similar, with the pistol loading stand front and center by the short starter & ramrod holders. :)

My range box is geared for loading, cleaning and shooting needs. Maintenance and gun-smithing tools are very minimal so as to keep the size down.
This one is made of 3/8" thick walnut. The tray is for all items needed to load & swab my rifle. Space on the side of tray is for my blackpowder cans. Natural walnut with just Tung Oil finish.
Easy to make, just takes a little patience with the hand sawn dovetails.

Too funny, I logged in just now to see if I could find a thread for range box ideas myself. I'm currently using an old plastic fishing tackle box. It works, but I'd like to have less plastic at the line.

@Eddie2002 - Check out some of the cowboy action cart setups. There are quite a few interesting setups there. As is often said, necessity is the mother of invention!

Here is my range box which was purchased from a rifle barrel barrel vendor who was at our state shoot back in the late 1970’s. I recall paying about $30. for it at the time. They told me they made them from some of the left over wood. I continue to use it to this day.

Another nice looking and functional box. Is there anything that you would change given the opportunity for another?

By gummy! It even has a mirror in it so you can make sure your hair isn't mussed up. :D

Of course for many of our members, they gave up worrying about their hair a long time ago. I think it was just after their last 5 hairs started falling out.:D:D
