Armi San Marco Walker Colt

Howdy!,

I picked up a nice Armi San Marco Walker Colt. I tested the waters with a pair of 1851 Navy pistols and am now hooked on BP too. This one was made in 1980. Anyone have any experience with Armi San Marco? It seems fine in all respects, broke it all down and cleaned it in the ultrasonic. One nipple was really stuck, needed a penetrating oil soak AND the heat gun AND some fine file work on my nipple wrench. Scared the hell out of me when it popped loose. I thought it snapped in two! Everything worked out well and will take it to the range next week.

My ASM is the 1851 Navy. I Enjoy it immensely. I've heard the earlier models of ASM are of pretty good quality. And as far as looks and feel go buddy you're feeling the best!

I remember San Marco very well from the late 70s, they made some great guns. I just sold my Walker the other day. Quality was very good, actions were good and tight,I had a 51 navy that was a Armi San Marco and it was a peach. Wish I had bought some more San Marco's before the quality problems before they ceased production. I am sure you will enjoy your pistol.

It does me alot of good to hear a positive reply on ASMs. Up to several years ago I never heard of this Brand. Most of the stuff I picked up about ASMs on differant forums have been on the negative side. Mainly that the metal was "Soft" in later years of manufacture. Mine is a '94 and I would consider that a "later year of manufacture". Except for the doubt about hardness , I really like an ASM. it has a great feel and balance. And as far as looks, there are none better in my books.
