Just thought I'd let folks know that my good friend Hank Pennington, aka Brown Bear , up on Kodiak Island passed away a couple days ago. I don't have any particulars at this time but will post when that happens.

Going to miss Brown Bear and his wisdom. Rest In Peace.

Thanks for letting us know. I'd appreciate it to know if there is an online memorial "guestbook" to sign, often through the funeral home handling arrangements. Or if there is someplace the family would like donations made in memoriam.

Please feel free to p.m. me if you don't want to post it in the open.

Sorry again for the loss of your friend.

I am so very sorry to read that, but thanks for letting us know. I thoroughly enjoyed all Brown Bear's posts and especially the ones on working leather, in which I found him to be a kindred spirit.

My most sincere condolences to his family and friends up there. And please relate to them we found him to be an absolute treasure on this forum, who we will sorely missed.

I am greatly saddened to hear of Brown Bear's passing. When someone has been here as long as you can remember, he's definitely a friend. He was a fine and very knowledgeable gentleman. RIP, my friend.

I can't say I knew the man by any other name than that of Brown Bear, but I can say his comments, due to his unique background and positive perspective on life and our sport, will make him very much missed.

RIP BB, you will be missed.....

He was a very knowledgeable shooter, hunter and Craftsman.

My condolences too his Family.

Damn! Sad news, indeed.
I feel as though a large, old tree has fallen in the forest. We are all much diminished with his passing. His posts were always worth the reading. Fortunately, they will still be here for our enjoyment.
I never laid eyes upon the man, but like so many others of you here, I counted him a "friend".

To his Family, and those who knew him, my condolences. I am feeling the loss.
