Hello all from central maine .

Just signed up , and am eager to learn from the folks here .

I have never owned a black powder gun , for my first purchase would like to start with a cap and ball revolver. Am thinking about the Taylor's 5 inch barrel with both the cap and ball cylinder as well as the 45 long colt conversion cylinder to round out the package .

Is there a sub group here for cap and ball types ?

Thanks guys .

Moses, you're not all that far from me either. I'm about 15 minutes below Augusta. There is a handgun forum here along with the rifle, smoothbore, etc.

Welcome! I'm a bit homesick now... I left in 1979 and haven't been home much since. I've got three brothers, a sister, and their families in various areas of Maine. I don't miss the no-see-ums!

Moses, you just described where I come from! I'm from the Plymouth/Newport area. And Ames, I don't know if we know each other, but I Knew several Ames from Dexter and a bit north of there. My collection includes a CVA Mountain Rifle from a 1978 kit, built by an old-timer who got tired of me drooling all over it, and horse-traded it to me. I have TC Bone collector, camo w/ a scope, and a Traditions Vortek (with hammer; NOT a Strikerfire) from about 2013, one of the good ones with no rust issues. LOVED Maine for shooting those and my other guns. You will too! Look into The Ancient Ones. They have some great events.

Jim
