I really dont know if I came off pro or con on this "stockpiling" thing but I'm definitely for it. Like the Boy Scouts say "Be Prepared". Just dont buy up everything in sight and be sure to leave some for the other guys.
See, stockpiling I'm OK with. What happened, and always happens, is someone saw a way to make a quick buck and bough as much as they could afford, / get their hands on so they could later price gouge.. THAT pisses me off!

This mystified me. If someone accumulates a stash of stuff while it is readily available and later sells some of it to people who cannot get it because a shortage is on, they are doing the buyer a service. The buyer is willing to pay and wants the stuff. Who cares if the seller gets the goingrate for what they sell?

I would agree with your premise. The problem is that there are those who will deliberately buy the store out of stock so that they can corner the market. Then resell it as 3 to 4 times (or more) what they paid. THIS is price gouging and its simply wrong!

Capitalism is what that is. There are alternatives but they are more commonly known as things such as communism.
I’ll stick with the capitalistic supply and demand thanks.

I bought a lot of caps before they became hard to find so I didn't bother to look for them.

That said, I did want to buy some .22 LR and they were never in stock. They also wanted over $70 for a brick of 500.
The only thing that makes me happy about it now that prices have gone down and they are available in the stores is, all of those dam greedy turds that kept buying out the stores total stock at $70 a brick are now stuck with thousands of rounds of overpriced ammo they can never sell for what they paid for it.:D

This thought gave me immense pleasure when the rimfire drought was finally over. If the same types have the same plans for ML supplies some time in the future I hope they suffer the same fate. :p

The guys that bought those turned them within 2 weeks at double what the paid. If the got stuck it was not for much. Ever watch GB or AA?

Now is the time to buy what you think you need. If it is 500 rnds buy a brick and be happy. If you shot 22lr like my son and I did and do again 10K for the summer is only 2 cases.

You can't see that amount don't complain about those who do buy that amount and use it.

By the way if 22lr is never allowed in the future by the new powers to be. It will not effect my family and extended family.

As a former shop owner and competitive BP shooter I can say BP shooters are known in the trade as the cheapest ******** in the shooting industry.

If you think we are hoarders remember what we think of the complainers of no ammo available after they have been warned and tested before. By the way We have never sold or given away any of our owned ammo.

Only shoot 15 grains in my 32s got 13 lbs of 3f and 75 lb of pure lead but probably new to stock up on primers didn’t realize stuff was hard to get during shortage

To us "casual shooters" it may seem like years of supplies. Some of these other shooters here though could have that powder and caps gone and used up in a few weeks. There's some serious shooters on this forum !

I had a few co-workers who got sucked in...going every week to the big box to stand in line to get their "allotment" of ammo telling me I needed to get in line. I passed.
My SGT "saw the handwriting" and bought FOUR or the unmentionables like we were issued; for $1200 A PIECE!! He told me when they reached 2 grand he'd sell...he still has them and they're going for about $600.
Same SGT got some hi cap mags and offered them @ 4X's what I'd paid, saying they were going thru the roof...he still has them.

I was down to my last tin of #11 caps, they must've been 20+ years old. I recently "re-upped" thru Midway...I'd say I'm good for a while.

I started back in the OPEC embargo days and always buy a little more than I need, a little at a time. As far as shooting supplies, I try to keep 2 political cycles ahead of my usage. I am almost at the point I am probably good to go all the way to the end zone.

What happened to the old 6 wing musket caps? CCI dropped the ball on this one. I need a kicker charge of Goex to make sure it goes off. Pyrodex isn't expensive here but using a full charge of Goex is.

As long as we are talking about supplies. Wouldn't gun oil also qualify as a "supply''? We speak of powder over 30 years old that's still good ,Caps that still go bang after so many years. Etc. We know lead will last a very long time. I would bet there's gun oils out there that grandpa bought and its still good as new.
