Found a nice little jewel at the local gun show yesterday. Lefthand .50 Cal flintlock from Dixie Gunworks.

I actually got it for $250.
The lock is rubbing on the wood a little and won't stay in the half-cock, and there is some pitting on the frizzen. Both easy fixes. The bore was filthy from sitting around for a long time, but no rust.

Maybe the southpaws of the world get a break now and then. I don't think it would have lasted more than an instant, at that price, if it were for a right handed shooter. That is one good looking shootin' iron. Good on you, John U.

I'm amazed at the price people pay. maybe I'm lucky, but I've never paid more than $200 for any t/c muzzleloader. I have a lyman gpr that I bought at an auction for $120. Even a Charles Dailey (Italian repro) hawken for $80. Is this really that unusual? All right hand guns.

You're very lucky. I haven't seen bargains like that in a long time. John U did very well. Congratulations.

Nice find and great deal. Congrats.
Most of the gun shows in my area don't have much that interests me. All modern type stuff. But once in a great while, something turns up.
What I find amazing is how often custom/semi-custom guns made by good contemporary makers, in unfired condition, show up at auctions. Some sell for the expected price while others go cheap. Guess it just depends on who is looking at the moment.

Yeah, for some reason, all I find are guns in half that good of shape and 1500 dollar price tags!! I really wonder about people at gunshows. They CAN'T be selling them at those prices.
