I picked up a cheap used lee mold off ebay, real cheap. I got burned on that one, it was so worn the alignment pins wouldn't hold it together to make a concentric ball. I have bought several new lee molds of eBay, shipped free they were a little cheaper than anywhere else.

Ebay does have a bargain every now and then if you look at just the right time. I picked up a new GM 13/16" .40 barrel for $75 on a buy it now, it had only been up for a few minutes when I stumbled across it, needless to say it was immediately headed to my house. Another time I found a NOS TC flint barrel in the white for $65, I latched on to it quickly as well.

Here are the two barrels today, the TC is made from random parts with an L&R RPL lock;

I bought what turned out to be a totally misrepresented Renegade and shipped it back to the seller which UPS managed to destroy. He refused to return my money, he shipped it back to me after me paying the shipping.

I fought with UPS for 6 months to get my insurance money back. I had to make an hour road trip to have it inspected.

I had to send the barrel to T/C and they repaired it, thankfully for free.

I was able to repair the damage to the stock, with glue and wood dowels.

After all was said and done, my wife threatened me if I looked at e-bay.

e-bay and UPS are not my friends.

IF I go that route, I pay for it all with my card. If unhappy, I can get Capital One to yank their funds pending them explaining their practices.
And I learned, along with the seller/shipper of a $5500 banjo that UPS destroyed to let UPS pack it while you watch. They cant claim insufficient packing voids the insurance after smashing when they pack it themselves.

After a couple of times of identity theft, one of which some one got into my Social Security, some one charged $17,000 to my Mother's credit card (who happened to be a lawyer in Florida) we are very careful with credit card use.

For shipping and receiving, I only use U.S.P.S and FedEx. If it cannot come that way, I do not need it.

BEWARE of FedEx Ground!

I got this from an actual FedEx Overnight delivery employee, after having trouble with FedEx Ground on more than one occasion...
It seems a portion or all of FedEx ground once was Roadway Express and American Freightways Express, which became FedEx Ground, and absorbed those employees. They do NOT give the same service one gets with FedEx Overnight, at least in my experience. I've had lazy drivers claim to have attempted delivery, but leave the item at the depot requiring me to go pick up the package, and I've seen a different FedEx Ground guy chess-pass my package onto my concrete stoop as he was too lazy to walk the 15 feet from the sidewalk to my door. You see when their truck is "empty" they go home...., if you're located well off their normal route, and they want to leave early, they may make a false entry about attempting delivery while they left your package at the depot. After three "tries" YOU have to go get the thing. They are not well supervised (imho)

Years ago before the Internet, when mail order went to 1-800 numbers, I got a special checking account at a different bank than my main banking institution. I had them "turn off" all of the special features, and had to keep fighting with them to quit trying to think for me, that I actually had a good reason NOT to have overdraft protection, and NO I didn't want a savings account with checking. Instead, what I would do is look at the catalog, then figure the shipping, and then I'd go to the bank where my "shipping account" was held, and I'd put in about $5 or $10 more than what I had estimated for the item plus the shippin. THEN I'd call in the order. After completion of the transaction, only a few dollars would be left in that account.

So, IF there was a dirty employee, OR if the company didn't shred their order rough drafts, and some schmuck went "dumpster diving" for disposed of receipts, and they took that information to hand-load into a credit card reader...<BUZZ> "insufficient funds". Bad guys will try card info only a couple of times when they get that response before they toss the information and move on to the next victim. It happened three times to me since 1985.... the bank then tries to charge me for the "insufficient funds" and I explain it was an illegal use of the card number...and the bank fee is dropped..., and life goes on.

I've been buying and selling on ebay for at least 10yrs, I even have an evil anti-gun pay-pal account that I just recently used with a member here in the "Classified" section.

I have made 2 purchases from our forum classifieds here in the last 30 days, both great deals and smooth transactions.

It just never occurred to me through all these years that there was a need to post my ebay business as conversation on a forum with specific classified sections.(?)
By all means people, be a savvy consumer,, use all of the available market resources to find the items you need.

You guy's should see what I just got off Amazon!! Oh, wait,, you don't need to hear that story,,(period)

Sometimes when I see a particularly good eBay deal on a M/L or part that I don't need I will give a shout out to the folk here so they can snap it up if they want it. An example would be a roached out TC barrel that is just right to send to Bobby Hoyt for a rebore that might be up on eBay for less than $50.

Often I see people looking for a .56 smooth TC barrel, If I find one in my internet travels I will give them an alert.

I see quite a lot of guns for sale on ebay that were taken apart and sold as individual lots like a stock and barrel together. It referred to another lot as something that can be used with it. This other lot was the lock and trigger.
I saw the same thing done with a Walker revolver that had been taken apart in two lots. It happens quite often and even though it's against ebay rules it's not well monitored. Apparently they have a rule against any magazines over 10 rounds so all of the 15 round M1 carbine mags I've looked at were listed as 10 round. Even the 30 rounder I scored.....

I laughed when somebody payed 1350.00 for a green mountain, stainless steel, LRH, drop in, 1" flats, 50 caliber, 1:28 twist, barrel brand new in the box........ I only had 250.00 invested in it. Sometimes the buyer just has to have it and when two people "have" to win, it can get pretty darn exciting. Selling that barrel helped me buy my first ever custom Tennessee flint lock.

I buy and sell on eBay. Selling can get frustrating as some buyers just don't pay attention to directions when it comes to quantity and shipping methods or other. It is nice when a bidding war happens. I like making a little extra. As a buyer, I snipe. I wait until the last 10 seconds to bid. Once it registers it is to late for the other bidders to come back and bid again. If I cant be present for the end of auction then I will bid my max and be done with it. I either get it or don't.

I have purchased quite a bit off of eBay. Have no problems. I just won a W.L. Cochran double barrel flint shotgun for what I consider a VERY good price. It was made in 1986. Sparks very well. I am going to fire it this afternoon after it warms up a bit. As in any internet buying you need to make sure of what your buying and protect yourself.

I have "Searches" running on Ebay for lots of stuff. One item is a used T/C Hawken stock and action for my new (to me) .32 cal barrel. Lots of stocks on Ebay btw, but most are too expensive.
