A video on YouTube shows Spam being made. Two ingredients, pork shoulder and spices. Vegans and other morons try to convince it contains lips, snouts and ass holes. What gripes me is it should sell for $1.00.

...beats tofu and soy milk, .
LOL..., that's not hard to do....

I'm not real partial to basic Vienna Sausages in a can, as I prefer the spicey version, but I will take them hands down over soy products. Just don't ask what's in them, nor what's in off-brand deviled ham..., just put the calories on the pilot bread and consume. ;)

What was funny was he swore he never had biscuits and gravy. I mentioned that to a vet who was about midway between us in age, and he said the only way he could believe that is if he just didn't eat the mornings it was served .

I ate in Navy and Marine Corps mess halls from 1983 through 1989..., never saw it offered. You could find it in Southern restaurants and diners though. That's sausage gravy and biscuits, when I see that written, folks.
Marines or Sailors could "assemble" something like that with redeye gravy, and white biscuits, if they got lucky and found them being served on the same day. Usually redeye gravy was available when grits were made...., and fried ham steaks were present, of course.
Now lets NOT confuse that with Cream Chipped Beef on Toast, aka "Sĥıt on a Shingle", since that isn't served on biscuits. You could have that often. ;)
Oh don't tick-off the Master Chief or the Master Sergeant by putting creamed chipped beef on his biscuits....they take pride in them and you better be only putting butter and jam on them if you want to eat in his mess hall.....

During the War (WWII) while working as a busboy in the Hotel Utah the entire restaurant kitchen staff was composed by the kitchen staff of the SS Bremen that was caught at the outset of our war with Germany and their crew was interned around the country where they could do no damage to our war production,
They used to prepare lunches for the help that was eggs and a delicious meat. I wanted to find out what meat was but was held back by the language barrier. After some days learned the delicious meat was calves brains, I found this off putting.
Some time later I was exposed to Spam and guesswhat?
There was that same flavor I had unknowingly enjoyed so much.

So if the concept of eating such things as the brains of a calf bother you, don't eat Spam.

Do you own stock in the company that makes Pepto-Bismal?

I have seen that stuff made..They consist of only muscle meats....no lips and ears, assholes, etc...in spite of what vegans say.

For lips and snouts there’s headcheese! Yum. We need more people to eat it so my grocery store will carry it again!

I'd like to find a good Bloodwurst - the kind my dad would buy that contained pieces of tongue. Germany has raised cured meats & sausages to an art-form (along with the French and Italians).

For breakfast, lunch ad dinner I sometimes eat ham, bacon in BLTs , pork sausage, Spanish chorizo, many other sausages and Spam. I really like good sausage.

When young my mother served Spam for some of our meals...during the "Great Depression" we were borderline bankrupt and couldn't be too choosy....but Spam provided nourishmement and w/ eating it, no hunger pangs.

Today I buy the Spam Lite which mainly has reduced salt content and if anything slightly bothers me about Spam Lite, it's the texture. No big deal though..... cooking a little longer crisps it up a bit.

For breakfast the Spam Lite is diced into 1/4" squares along w/ onions, green peppers, garlic and paprika and all this is mixed w/ the hash browns and fried..... Deeeelicious, especially w/ a fried egg on top.

I think some don't like Spam because it's a processed meat...but sausages, hams, bacon are also processed so why is Spam singled out? A touch of "snobbery" might be part of the answer or " what would my friends and relatives say" could also apply.

I always have a couple tins of Spam Lite, bacon, ham and pork sausage on hand ....can be used for a variety of delicious meals served throughout the day......Fred

Did it ever occur to you “Crankshaft” that there may be vegans who read these posts? There might be vegans who are blackpowder enthusiasts as well. Why is it necessary to degrade other people to make your point? Is there just one way, and by chance, is that way your way only?

As to spam; my father served four years flying Liberators in WWII for about 3 of those years. He never allowed spam in our home at any time after the war until his death. They got a steady diet of spam, and learned to dislike it presumably because this was a steady party of their diet.

That video on YouTube is probably the same one I watched. Looks too easy. Will probably try it soon

Are brilliant

Dave, read the ingredients on a can of Vienna sausage. The last one I ate was about 8 years ago on a bear stand in Canada. The label said MECHANICALLY SEPERATED CHICKEN go figure, the only thing I could imagine was stuffing a chicken in a centrifuge and out comes Vienna sausage. I do not know if the bears ate the rest of them or not. As you while I was in the corps I ate some things that were questionable but it served the purpose that was from 1974 yo 1981. I really detested the c-rats that were ham and eggs. Hell we even ate rations that were packaged during the Korean conflict. I remember pulling mess duty and opening #10 cans of spaghetti and meatballs that had a date of1950 I did not eat that day.

The post isn't for you, if you you are not one who deride folks who eat meat. I am on a number of forums, motorcycles, cars, etc. There are the vegans who are arrogant ass holes to those who eat meat. And many of the atheists on the forums are arrogant asses. Almost to the point of harassment. Sorry.

Just curious what a person's dietary or belief choices have to do with muzzleloading...?
