Tin folding candle lamp

I have a small tin folding candle lamp that I carry in my pack. It is nice to light up the darkness when you need light. My little lamp doesn't have a glass or mica door to keep the wind from blowing out the candle. Crazy Crow currently has a folding candle lamp on clearance with a glass door to keep the wind out. I thought that was useful so I ordered one. It arrived today and I didn't realize it was quite a bit bigger than my small one. The candle holder is larger than the one in my smaller lamp so I will need to use a bit bigger candle, no problem there. The other issue is the new lamp from CC has quite a bit of rust. Poor storage in a moist environment. I can steel wool the rust to clean it up. Although not quite as portable as my small one, I believe this new candle lantern will work out nicely. I'll try it tonight after dark.

Untouched and well preserved Jaguar XKEs develop patina.

Untouched and well preserved 19th century fowlers develop patina.

Everything else develops rust.

I like the small one. I can visualize glueing stainless steel panels into it or even thin mirror stock.

I suspect the rust was caused by the soldering flux and I'll bet it was made in India.
