Many 16th century wheellocks have a raised ring around the rim of the wheel on the lock, with a domed cap protecting the flat side of the wheel. They do not seem to have any screws attaching the rim and cap to the plate, so does anyone know how these pieces are made and attached? It looks like the ring sometimes partially covers a thread that is attaching an inside piece of the lock, so I assume they are not welded or soldered.
