    New Zealand Fallow Deer

Hi there, great to hear from a black powder shooter in the area! Yes, I've had a look at the range website, looks like an awesome facility. I'll be rolling into town on June 8th all going to plan. Let me know if you want to get out for a shot at some stage. Thanks, BPkiwi

    New Zealand Fallow Deer

Luckily my brother in law has a dealer in his small town that sells black powder. I have a flintlock and powder awaiting my arrival. I'll be moving to Rocky Moubtain House. Haha that sounds like a man in the know, obviously married too.

    New Zealand Fallow Deer

Hi there, yes Canada's gun laws are relatively similar to ours in NZ. In Canada a percussion rifle requires a license. A flintlock, however, even modern reproductions are considered antiques and no license is required.

    New Zealand Fallow Deer

Hi there, Thanks for the response. Yes we are in late fall now. The red deer rut was a month ago and the fallow should be in the tail end of their rut now but we did see any evidence of bucks chasing does anymore. Cheers, BPkIwi

    New Zealand Fallow Deer

The joys of hunting with a smoke pole. As I prepare to leave New Zealand for a move to my wife's native land of Canada I was fortunate enough to sneak in one last hunting trip. An old friend and I were headed to a public land area to chase red and fallow deer. The foresight on my old CVA...

    My boys first turkey hunt

Took my 4 year old son for his first turkey hunt here in NZ. He got to pick the lucky ball out of the pouch. For those wondering there are no restrictions on hunting in New Zealand other than waterfowl, so shooting this Tom with a 45 prb is fair game. We enjoyed turkey fajitas last night!

    Hi there from New Zealand

Yep, fortunately I was not affected by the buyback scheme as my guns are all bolt, pump action or single shot. However, I have friends who had to fight tooth and nail to hold onto rifles that were essential for their work (commercial goat cullers etc)

    Hi there from New Zealand

You're in the South Island too mate? Where abouts? I'll be moving to the Rocky Mountain House area, not far from Red Deer.

    Hi there from New Zealand

Hello from NZ, I am a keen hunter and get out as often as I can here chasing red deer as well as feral pigs and goats. I am in the process of moving to Alberta, Canada (wifey is Canadian) and I'm looking forward to connecting with the black powder community over there. Currently shooting a CVA...
