Very stuck minie ball, tried everything having to pull the breech plug

I feel for the fellow with the stuck Minie, but you others have entertained me for a couple days. Any activity in life can be difficult if your knowledge level is "don't know what you don't know". I try to wade into those dark ponds, not dive.

Remember this Davy Crockett movie scene?

The days of wooden ships and iron men.

    Black powder on smokeless ranges

I guess that in some ways I'm lucky. My gun club, Delaware County Field and Stream Association, has a segregated range for black powder right next to the high power rifle range. When on the BP range you have to coordinate with the range master or the shooters on the HP range. We have...

First Flint bore charge not going off.

IDK much, but windshield wash fluid has some % of water and other non-alcohol components. That sounds like the wrong thing to use. And why not a dry patch last?

How Deadly is a Flintlock Rifle…

The point of all this? I did laugh, though. "Sister in college" !? Let's offend everyone! At least she doesn't have to pay her loan.

    Introduction

Hey Blunderbuss, You will find this forum helpful. I have been on here only a few months, but have learned much. You will find all sorts and many with very strong opinions some of which are helpful and others, not so much. The best way to learn is hands on. Get a gun and try stuff out. And...

Study: Hunters Die After Consuming CWD-Infected Venison

Not news, but rather a conflation of unrelated occurrences. Total BS logic. Read the article that came from Outdoor Life. https://www.outdoorlife.com/conservation/hunters-die-eating-cwd-venison/?utm_term=ODL%20-%20041924

    Gardening Round2 Deer problem

A well maintained fence that is tall enough (probably 6 feet) is the only thing that I have tried and it works well. They are too lazy//wary to jump inside.

    Did I ruin grips

Actually "pants" does make sense as originally there were two, one for each leg and some kind of who knows what for the middle. But who says "grip panel"?

    Rifle vs. Smoothbore

I hunted for years in New Jersey with a gang that only used buckshot. We never lost a deer.

    Rifle vs. Smoothbore

What I find is that too many hunters can't shot worth a hoot. If you don't know your weapon nor your ability to use it you are going to have poor results. Buckshot kills, but you have to know how to use it.

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

This all seems like a waste of time and energy. Unless someone says here is my one hole group at 75 yds after and my 3" group before I don't see the point.

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

Has this improved your groups? and how much.

Don't forget 40 year life expectancy.

    Goodbye my friends

I've learned a lot in the last few months that I have been on this forum. If everyone here had my level of knowledge this whole thing would be a wasteland.

Home defense black powder shotgunhome defense black powder shotgun

If I'm bloodying up my home, I'm going smokeless to minimize the cleanup. As neither my bride, nor the maid would be willing it would all be on me.

    He wrote "smooth bore."

WANTED WTB Better Sights for my TC Renegade Flinter

Try another peep sight, but first be sure that it addresses what you need. I hadn't shot a peep sight since I was a teenager (60years ago) with the DCM's target .22s, but I put one on my flintlock this fall and it solved all my sight issues.

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

I'm pretty sure based on all the books I've read about Willd Bill that the bear story is a myth.

    SMR Pig

Feral pigs taste like real pork, not the "other white meat". You have to handle cooking like other game as there is little fat, but it has to be "well done" because of trichinosis possibility. I wish I had a freezer full. Thankfully they are not present in SE Pennsylvania.
