How exactly do I do that?

Me too! Was looking at it hard, but it would have been my fifth T/C in as many months.

    Flint knapping?

I have no idea what pressure flaking is or how to do it. Sounds interesting though. Right now, am just busting rock with brute force. I hear you on the flakes being too thin, have tried several, that where super thin and sharp, but shattered in the first couple shots, conversely many of my big...

    Flint knapping?

Went to the range today and found some bigger rocks to play with Perhaps it's just because I don't know what I am doing, but this stuff seems a lot harder to work than what they where using in the videos. Here's a few I managed to rough out, not as pretty or consistent as you guys are making.

Would you be interested in trading for an Uberti Walker?

    FOR SALE traded

So is it 1" flat to flat like Renegade and .54 cal. Hawken, or 15/16ths like most .45/50 cal. Hawkens?

    Flint knapping?

All my stones look much smaller than what you guys are using, will have to dig up some bigger rocks to play with. How are you removing the outer casing to get to the cores?

    Flint knapping?

I'm in LaCoste just southwest of San Antonio, seems to spark well, continued to use it all afternoon, fired about 40 shots, and it looks like it still has some life left.

    Flint knapping?

Initially the short answer was no. So I went to the range today, picked up several shards from the berm, that had been split by bullet impacts. I found one that was a bit small, but looked usable. I chucked it up in my .45 T/C Hawken and..... It worked, don't know how to upload a video here...

    Flint knapping?

I was told the land our muzzleloading club is on, was called flint hill before they bought it. It's scattered with agate not flint. But was thinking that I would at least like to learn how to Knapp my own flints, not that I nessisarrily would all the time, but would like to at least know I could...

Need help with 1858 Enfield clone.

Mold was Lee 90479 flying 🗑, 0.581", 482gr. Run through the.0.579" sizing die, and lubed with 3parts Beeswax, 2parts olive oil. On top of 50gr FFg with CCI musket caps.

Need help with 1858 Enfield clone.

Well, the 0.579" sizing die came in, but I had already given up and sold the 1858 patterned two band enfield, and bought an 1853 pattern Armi-sport. Bore size 0.580" so used the 0.579" sizing die, and went to the range. Went down the bore with just the weight of the ramrod, and I think it shot...

What Part Of Clean It Now Don't You Understand?

I always do it before leaving the range! Just carry a plastic container with a screw on lid, (empty Metamusil or Ovaltine containers work great) fill 1/3 with windshield wiper fluid or your cleaner of choice, and swab away. When done, dry and oil the barrel, screw the top back on the container...

    Calibre questions

It's not ALL about the sillhoettes, I shoot monthly local NMLRA club matches. Mostly looking for accuracy, economical practice, pleasant shooting character, and low maintenance. Since starting BP, I've been shooting 2-3 days/week, 40-60 shots/ trip to the range. I haven't been shooting 3-4...

    Calibre questions

Love my .50 cal T/C Hawken, picked up a .45 cal version, and love it even more. Less powder/ lead consumption, less recoil, still plenty effective knocking down sillhoettes. I don't hunt, so was thinking of getting something even smaller, was looking at a Traditions Crockett, then got to...

    Using a smaller Minie ball.

Before I found a miniball that worked, I was using a .562" round ball with 12 Oz. Denim patch in my .580" Armisport 1853 pattern Enfield. It shot very well, much better than any of the miniballs I had at the time.

    Using a smaller Minie ball.

What I bought, before I found one that would shoot, but was a bit large and required stiff thumb pressure, or a short starter to get started, too tight for skirmishes, so added a sizing die.

    Accuracy standard

"Perfect is the enemy of good!" The goal of these historical pioneers wasn't to win some prize or bragging rights, it was to survive in a world very different from the one we know today. Walking into an unexplored wilderness, traveling possibly hundreds or thousands of miles, for months or...

    Is Midwest Reloads legitimate?

Looks like typical scam, prices and availability of hard to find items are too good to be true, they only take Venmo, Zell, and PayPal friends and family etc... which have no recource if you don't get what you ordered. Probably from a foregn country.
