    Blunderbuss PRB

I made a post a while ago trying to find out if patching the ball in my traditions .54 blunderbuss would produce better results. I have finally been able to do my own test. 3 shots each 80 gr 2f Goex .530 round ball the three patched loads used a .010 lubed shooting patch, the other three shots...

    Hunting Stories Thread

Hey everyone, I thought it would be cool to ask you guys some of your favorite personal muzzleloader hunt stories. I'm fairly new to the game and enjoy reading everyone's proudest moments or cool things they've experienced hunting with their front stuffer.

    Traditions Blunderbuss Hunting

I have a traditions blunderbuss, a .54 percussion smoothbore, with a 16 inch barrel. I have used it successfully on small game. Does anyone have experience hunting with this gun or similar short smoothbores which they would like to share? advice or loads? I'll also questions on my methods for...

    Ball Size For .54 Smoothie

I have a percussion traditions .54 blunderbuss with a 16 inch barrel. It is smoothbore for those who are unfamiliar. I shoot .530 unpatched round balls out of it. It's my understanding that smoothbore roundballs are generally not patched. Do you think I could get better accuracy by patching the...

    28 gauge wad in a .54 smoothie

Does a 28 gauge plastic wad fit into a .54 smooth bore muzzleloader? Would anyone with 28 gauge plastic wads and a .54 smoothie help me with this. I'm thinking of tightening my .54 smoothies patterns with a 28 gauge wad. I don't want to buy a bag just to find they don't fit. Additionally, if the...

    Traditions Blunderbuss Success

Managed to take a nice squirrel with my .54 blunderbuss. 80 gr of #6 shot, 60 gr of 3f 777. Wool wad over powder and shot. CCI #11 cap. He was about 15 yards out on a sapling and one shot was all it took. They said it couldn't be done. Feeling a little like Jeremiah Johnson.

    Recommendations

Anyone that can recommend a versatile percussion smoothbore that won't break the bank? I'm flexible on most detail, I just want to hear your recommendations.

28 gauge wads in .54 smoothie?

Any thoughts on using 28 gauge plastic wads in a .54 smoothie? I know the gas seal is between .55 and .56 cal, too big to fit? What do you guys think. The point would be tightening shot groups.

    Traditions Blunderbuss heavy load

Hey guys, I tested out a new load for the traditions .54 blunderbuss based on someone's .54 smoothbore hunting load in another thread. I used 60 grains hodgon's triple 7 3f granulation( I don't want to hear it about not using real BP) .54 wool wad over powder 80 grains of shot(#6) and a wad over...

    Traditions Blunderbuss Loads

Picked up a traditions .54 cal blunderbuss kit 6 months ago as my first smokepole and have had a great time developing loads. You'd be surprised how good some of the patterns are. These would likely work in another .54 smoothie or 28 gauge. I figured there really isn't much in the way of data...
