Tried out my Callahan bag mold

Exactly, its just a period on the go type mold. You throw it in your bag ( bag mold) to cast up a few balls for a hunt or if you run out after a fight with some Red Coats. For Volume casting I have my Aluminum Lee Molds that I can pump out 100 ball in no time.

    Save your money...

Why try and beat what works best. Dawn and Water. Available EVERYWHERE even at the dang gas station. Heck Dawn is so good its the best dang plinking patch lube there is. You don't have to swab narry a time. Ifn ya don't have Dawn, water works well too. At deer camp my Kentucky gets cleaned...

Tried out my Callahan bag mold

No there are no alignment features on the mold. But unless you run this thing over with a truck I don't see how it could get out of alignment.

Whats your favorite muzzleloader you own?

That Woods runner is a sexy beast, I love looking at it and shouldering it. As soon as I learn to shoot it well it will be even better. I'm SO not doing "Ole Shuug" justice right now. My favorite to shoot is my plain ole Traditions Kentucky. That thing will SHOOT, for me. I have alot of hours...

    Kibler percussion conversion ?

 :ghostly: Go ahead and put my NAME as NUMERO UNO on the pre order list! I don't care if its years out. THAT will be a fine and correct rifle I'm sure.

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

The barrel went out this morning to be reamed to a 56 or 58 cal smooth bore. I went conservative rather than punching it all the way to a 20 gauge. That way if in the future something arises there is still enough barrel to make changes.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I've never tried a bare ball in my rifles. Now with this post I certainly will. But I've always wondered what a R.E.A.L round ball would be like. Like cast a soft .505 round ball and seat it down on top of a lubed felt wad. I never wanted to order a custom mold to try it though.

How do you prep your C&B revolver for an outing?

Well, I carry my 1860 Snub Nose a good bit. I grease the ends of the chambers with the lube I use for every thing ( Lambs Tallow & Beeswax) The nipples have the proper fitting caps with the little cap keeper rings on them. I don't know the brand I bought quite a few packs of them years ago and...

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

I just read an interesting post on a wood working forum. The fella says he fills the grain on woods like Black walnut by wet sanding the stock with straight BLO. Of course the drying time will be longer than products like the Birchwood Casey Filler. Anyone ever try this? I may try it.

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

I do too but, I'm worried that's getting a little thin. But Mr. Hoyt said we could go all the way to 62 and I believe he would know better than I. I'm shipping the barrel out Monday.

    Preference poll: smoothbore or rifled?

I voted Smooth bore and I don't even have one, YET! But my eyes are not great with open sights, so shooting much past 50 yards doesn't happen very often. And, I am a hunter, I can get within 50 yards of deer in my area no problem. If I couldn't I would quit hunting. So shooting a deer with...

This Poor Renegade had to come home with me

I wanted to get the fitting done today so I can pack and ship the barrel to Mr. Hoyt to be reamed to a smooth bore. I got the extra 2 lbs of wood removed and everything fitting really good and sanded the stock to 150. More sanding tomorrow. Then I can start working on the metal parts...

My wife says I have issues ...

The quartermaster never bats an eye anymore. She used to try and keep up with what I guns I bought. Now she has no idea haha. Last I inventoried she got very wide eyed when I told her the total. Hey, I gave up drag racing when we were pregnant with our first. Guns are MUCH cheaper. Sort of .

My first round ball through a smoothbore.

DAGGONE!! UH, yeah I would say that is a REALLY good group off hand. Yep that big ole cannon ball would dang sure put the meat on the ground.
