What mistakes have you noticed in movies/tv shows that happen in the BP era like Daniel Boone, Patriot etc?

Someone had to have mentioned the crates of Hawken rifles in the 1770s, on Daniel Boone.

    Do you shoot old "Originals"?

Yes! A Harpers Ferry 1816 conversion musket, of 1842, and a trapdoor carbine that was rebuilt in 1882, and again for the Spanish-American War.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Today, I’m going to the Smoky Hollow Muzzleloaders January shoot to meet people and try out the newly adjusted trigger on my Harpers Ferry 1816 conversion musket. Hope I hit the black with this thing!

    66" Soft Gun Case Unique

I have Unique cases in 54”, 58”, and 62”. I like them. I have a range rod with a longer handle, so I just wrap the velcro flap around as best I can. Works fine for my purposes!

What Part Of Clean It Now Don't You Understand?

I swab it good before I leave the range, including cleaning around the nipple, etc., and when I get home, I clean it thoroughly right away. Same for my, how do you say, “unmentionable”rifles. Guess it’s the Army left in me.

    I've screwed up....

Ugh, I did that, but luckily it was right at the muzzle and it popped out as I withdrew the rod! Luckily it was at a match, and someone had one I could borrow! I promised him I wouldn’t do that to his!

HEARING PROTECTION can you hear me!

Absolutely cannot shoot a rifle with phones on. Got tinnitus from the Army, drumming, etc. Still use the 3-flange plugs like I used in the Army. Got a pair of those Decibulz plugs that I’ll try to form fit to my ears someday.

Question about shooting round ball in smooth bore

I recently got ahold of a Harper’s Ferry 1816 smoothbore conversion musket to use with the N-SSA/ACWSA. Here are my first 5 shots, at 25 yards, bareball, using a .685 ball and 60 grains of 2F Schuetzen. From the bench, as the trigger pull was very heavy, which has now, hopefully, been put right!

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Went to the range with my frustrating Pedersoli Kentucky rifle. (Frustrating, because I’m a newb). Got the rod stuck just trying to swab any oil that was in the bore. Got that out. Idiot, step two, dry balled the first one. CO2 thing didn’t work. Got that out by getting powder down the...

    online vendors- small retail businesses

Just wondering: I’ve seen a couple of guns made by a Philip Fisher, but can’t find one ounce of info about him. Does anybody here know of Philip Fisher?

    Unloaded muzzleloader at the range?

I have a short, stout range flag that came with a pistol, or something, and they just want me to place the one end between the nipple and hammer, with no cap, of course. Not sure what I would do with a flintlock—leave the frizzen forward to show no powder in the pan?

    Anyone in Wisconsin sell BP?

I’m in Kenosha, and usually order from Graf’s. I don’t normally go into the People’s Republik of Illinois, but I know the guy in Mineral, IL, usually has tons of it, but doesn’t ship.
