    Visited Tennessee Valley Muzzleloader

i was going through Natchez Mississippi today. Stopped in to get a better idea about what I am actually wanting to buy. The folks were very hospitable. I looked at a few samples, checked out the shop and left. One, I was in a bit of a hurry to get to my next appointment, and two I was kinda in...

    Another 56 TC Smoothbore Thread

Got some 1/8 felt bore buttons in today. From Maine shooters supply. Tried two over 50 grains of 2f, then a 50 grain measure of #5 shot, cause it was what I had. One felt wad on top. 20 yard pattern not great. Then tried same combo with 60 of powder and shot. Again, not great. Then I cut open a...

The barrel was missing an under lug. Ordered one day after I bought barrel. USPS finally delivered it today. I guess they thought it proper to do so by wagon train since it was a muzzleloader part. All I had were .530 balls. Used pillow ticking and lubed with olive oil. Remarkably snug...

I had some time today, and scrubbed the barrel out. You can actually see very faint rifling marks. It evidently was a rifled barrel that Thompson reamed smooth. It is clearly marked renegade sb.

    Another 56 TC Smoothbore Thread

Met a fellow this morning, and bought a Renegade smoothbore barrel. I have to sort out a missing under rib, but I will get that figured out. Bore is pretty smooth looking. Outside of barrel has a well used patina to it. Looks like someone tried removing the breach plug with a wrench and marred...

Kinda what I thought as well. I have so many other time consuming hobbies and work stuff. Do not have time to build a kit. This one is the closest to what I consider my ideal in a finished rifles, in the price range I am willing to pay.

    Who does muzzleloader barrel reboring?

Mr. Hoyt recently rebored a ruined 50 caliber Renegade barrel to 52 For me. I was absolutely stunned by the deep old timey looking round bottom rifling. First two shots 50 were about an inch apart. With a tight patched 515 round ball. The twist is 1-60.

I have a hankering to buy a 40 caliber flintlock. Absolutely do not need it, just want one. This is what I am thinking about ordering, unless somebody has a reasonable argument against it. Thanks for your opinions in advance...
