    I was going to build this from scratch, but never got around to it, the pistol at some time had a barrel change for some reason, I borrowed it from a friend, stripped it and drew up the plans.

    Brown Bess locks cleaning

    These are East India locks that needed a little cleaning, :D they were fitted to two Brown Bess muskets that I made in the 70's, with 42" & 39" barrels. There's a name on one of the locks which I can't work out?

    Made in the 70's, cut from stock steel with a hacksaw and filed to shape, a samall lathe was used for cylinder, nipples and fins, springs forged. I borrowed an original stripped it and drew up the plans. Phil

    I built this from scratch in the 70's, from stock steel cut with a hacksaw and filed to shape, a small lathe was used for the screws. It consists of a waterproof lock with a slide safety, frizzen roller, tumbler detent which, because of the set trigger stops the sear engaging in the safety...
