    Rank these books

I agree totally with Ames. The Art of Building has everything you need to build your first gun and nothing else to confuse you. Greenville has much more good detail for future projects. I have not read the third book either. Greg

    Elk Season II

Didn't want to hi-jack another thread. So here's my update on an elk hunt. Northern Colorado. We hunted our arses off for 6-1/2 days. Had a great time. Had one close encounter with a group of cows. No bugling to speak of. Finally heard one go off on our last evening. Way below us...

This is all I got this morning

Pulled in to my spot in the dark. Walked around the truck to start suiting up and hear a loud hissing sound. Never even thought "snake". I knew it was tire air escaping fast. Decided to go turkey hunting! Now it would have been great if the story ends with a nice bird in hand but...

    short, sweet turkey morning

Congratulation Spence! Sometimes those quick and easy morings make up for the hot sleepy mornings where it's just you and the skeeters in the woods. Greg

    Turkey opener.

Congratulations!! Sometimes you have to "make do" with what's left of your good plans. 10 things can happen when they get in close . . . 9 of them are bad!

    Roundballs for Elk

A 58 will do a good number on an elk. I say if your comfortable with your cast balls - use em. Confidence and Accuracy! Obviously don't shoot them on the point of the shoulder. I hunt with a 62 cal rifle and have killed 2 elk. Both with nice/big/soft lead balls. Shot one through both...

What's all this talk about Turkey Hunting ???

Yea, I know the feeling. I've got 4 weeks to go. Got the deeks out this week and touched up some paint on their heads and wings. Swabbed the bore on the fowler (just because). Thinking about shooting one or two shots at the pattern board just to make me feel better. Watching you early...
