    Barrel life

On the last shoot I attended met a fellow that put close to 12k rounds through it and it was still accurate and I could not see any appreciable wear in the rifling.

    Pedersoli or TVM

I have limited experience forging and I would say that you could be on to something it sound plausable

    Pedersoli or TVM

Not sure what he meant by it but it is cheaper alternative, includes swamped barrel and Siler lock. With TVM swamped barrel is $200+ extra and lock plate carvings are better looking on Kibler. Kibler was my initial pick but there is no left hand option

    Pedersoli or TVM

As someone who just started shooting flintlock recently I would say go with TVM given the two. My first flintlock is Investarms Hawken 50 cal and intially I was impressed with overall quality and accuracy. At the same time I wondered why would anyone pay 3-4 times the money on a rifle that would...

    Curious

My brother and I drive 10 minutes to an hour and a half to go shooting at least couple of days a week. We belong to 3 different clubs and they are varying distances from our house. Off course the nicest one is hour and a half away. We burned through at least 13 puonds of FFFg since start of this...

    Bore anti-rust formula

Denatured alcohol gets the nod. Its $12 a gallon at the local paint store. I then wile it down with balistol and this combination works for me.

    Relative accuracy?

This could be said of shooting any rifle for groups. We tend to forget that these barrels are not immune to heat and issues that it brings when trying to shoot for a group. Even if you took your centerfire rifle and shot 5 times in quick succession you would not be able to make one ragged hole...

    Relative accuracy?

I measure group size center to center of the hole. Was that bench rest competition? 4 inch group on a windy day at 100 yards is still very good id say. What caliber rifle do you use? I shoot off bench for load development only but would like to try bench rest competition as well. Im going to a...

    Relative accuracy?

3 shot group touching if I try really hard or inch and a half without due strain. Sighted at 100 yards it is about 2.5 inches high at 50 yards. This is all off course from a rest and using Lyman SML57 peep sight rear and Lyman 57 white bead front. I did come to a conclusion that a narrow front...

    Relative accuracy?

Let me repeat something I have read here on the forum and have personally experienced. Just because you shoot clover geoup at 50 does does not guarantee that the same load will shoot a proportionaly larger group at 100. For example your 2 in group at 50 will not be 4in at 100 yards. It has...

    considering a flintlock

+1 on the lefty I called months ago asking about a lefty and no joy. Hope this changes

    Range/Practice vs. Hunting Loads

I am with azmntman on this one. I develop the most accurate load for PRB and thats my hunting load. In my .45 TC Hawken its 65gr, my Cabelas .50 65gr and in my Hoyt .54 its 70-75 gr I have not decided yet which is most accurate. I use Goex FFFG in all my guns and they are all precussion. All...

Modifying custom LH flint lock for Lyman Deerstalker?

Yes, L&R still makes flintlock for Investarms/Lyman in LH and they have them in stock. If you want a percussion they can convert one over. See my post about LH Investarm stock.

Uberti Santa Fe Hawken, Mainspring Busted

And they still do, I spoke to One of the gents there and they confirmed. Only holdup is if you want a LH precussion then they take a Flint lock and convert it to precussion. That being said they would have the spring in stock for sure
