    Remington pocket .31

I just want to clarify one thing. I usually load powder then the over the powder wad and then the ball. Is this the way you guys load? Some of the posts I am reading make me think they are putting the wad over the ball. Depending on the situation I sometimes grease over the ball, but have...

    Remington pocket .31

I just picked up a Remington pocket pistol .31 caliber. I can't find any recomended loads for it. I am assuming it will be 10 grains or less, but wanted to see if anyone on the forum shoots or has shot one of these and can make a recommendation.

    MVT Pistols

I don't have the Germanic one, but I have the Heavy British Dragoon and the RHR Scottish pistol. I love them both. You cannot beat them for the price.

    ERA Clubb Butt Fowler arrived

Well I have never done the wood finish on a longrifle. I did a pistol about 10 years ago and used some leather stain on it and I cannot remember what I used to seal it. I like to rub all my guns down with beeswax and neatsfoot oil. Just lightly. Keeps them shiny and free of rust. Yes in the...

    ERA Clubb Butt Fowler arrived

Maybe I can mix some sawdust and glue and then stain and see if that will look ok.

    ERA Clubb Butt Fowler arrived

Yes I need to figure out a way to hide the gaps on the buttplate for sure. What is your method with the glue and paint? I also noticed that the side plate is just screwed on. How deep does the sideplate need to be inletted. Like a 1/3 of the way into the wood?

    ERA Clubb Butt Fowler arrived

I will hopefully have it finished in 2 weeks for the Ft. Buenaventura rendezvous in Ogden, Utah. I have to fix the front site as its a little off kilter, but I am very excited to shoot it. I have never owned a smoothbore.

    ERA Clubb Butt Fowler arrived

Ok so I posted some pics of the gun. Its in the white so I need to finish the metal and the wood. The only problems I see that will need attention are some gaps in the wood around the buttstock and the trigger scrapes the trigger guard. I also need to equal out the wood on the sides of the...

    ERA Clubb Butt Fowler arrived

Well after a about 16 1/2 months my Clubb butt in the white has arrived. I will take some pictures tonight and post them tomorrow. It turned out decent. I am glad I got it in the white so I can fix a few of the things that bother me. The only glaring problem is that they put the wrong butt...

    oilcloth

Trying to get my little mind around an oilcloth. Could this be described as the canvas/linen/hemp treated with boiled linseed oil like Mark Baker talks about in his articles or something different. I have also seen the oilcloth that the tentmakers make. Reminds me of the Australian dusters...

Does your state have a separate ML season?

I feel your pain Deadeye. I didn't even see a deer with horns for the 3 years I did the dedicated hunter. Where are you in Utah? I will never do the Dedicated hunter again. Cost me more money and service hours and was not worth it. 4 wheelers everywhere and rifle hunter mentality to boot.

Does your state have a separate ML season?

We have ml season after the bow season and before rifle. For deer it falls at the end of sept. its a whole 5 days. Elk is the same way, but its the end of October I beleive. All the rifle hunters have jumped to the inline rifles and moved to the muzzleloader because its right before the rut...

    Attaching brass ramrod tip

I will keep at it then. The tip I am making is going to go into the forearm an the part near the muzzle is going to flare. Anyone know of some good places for 1/2" hickory rods or even just 1/2" by 1/2" boards and I can round them off? I think that the rod I am making is going to snap. Its...

    Attaching brass ramrod tip

Anybody have a online source for these brass rod / welding rods of say 1/16"? I went to Lowes and Home depot and to a hobby store and nothing. I called a couple of welding supply places and they said they don't carry that small of rod. Help!

    Dirks

Would a dirk look too out of place attached to a hunting bag strap or another strap over the shoulder. I usually see them attached to a swordbelt, but since I don't carry a sword I was just going to attach it on another strap. What do you guys think of the Track of the Wolf Dirk? See links...

    Attaching brass ramrod tip

I think this rod is made of Alder. I have used Hickory with pretty much the same results. Maybe I need to make sure that I have a closely matching drill bit size and steel pin size. I think I may be trying to force things and that is why the wood keeps breaking. Frustrating.

    Attaching brass ramrod tip

I tapered a couple of pistol ramrods and a rifle ramrod. I was trying to put a threaded brass tip on the end of the rifle ramrod. I spent a couple of hours shaping the rod and then fit the brass tip to the wood. Then I drilled a 1/8 inch hole through the wood. I took the nail I was going to use...
