    Powder horn safety: Watch out!

Thank you all for your responses. I have been shooting for over 50 years, and blackpowder for 40, so I am no novice. I have never had anything close to an accident as severe as this. Your comments have been welcome. My right eye, closest to the blast, was examined by an ophthalmologist due to...

    Powder horn safety: Watch out!

Last weekend I was firing up a .58 Zouave rifle. .58 roundball velocity

.570 patched round ball from a 58 flintlock with a 36" barrel using Goex FFG, 120 grains chronographs at 1650 fps consistently. Curiously, the exact same load in a 42 inch barrel is also 1650. I can get 1750 from a 140 grain load, but accuracy falls off. rooster

You can try stonewall creek outfitters (google it) I have not done business with them, but they seem to have a good inventory of GM barrels in stock. Best wishes roosterf106

    Addendum on Green Mountain Barrels

I just joined this forum, and found that a running discussion on Green Mountain barrels was done last summer. I would like to...at this late date...give my two cents worth: I have been all around the horn with the Green Mountain barrels”¦I think I can add something here: I have two .58 cal...
