    My 54 Colerain Likes a .530 ball with .016 pillow ticking and 70gr FF.

    I used to be partial to .50 for years until I got my first .54. Never had a whitetail run more than 60yds after taking a good hit from a .54 ball.

    Made in India?

    On the India musket I own it came with instructions to proof it yourself. The statement about getting what you pay for couldn't be more true in this case. When I compare it to my NSW Officers musket the quality is pale in comparison.

    Rear sight location

    I feel your pain. On my 44" barrel rifle the rear sight is 12" and gives me a better sight picture than the others that are 11".

    hunting load ?

    My hunting load is also my target load. My .54 groups great with 70gr of 2f and drops whitetails with ease.

    Acceptable Accuracy with a Flintlock

    My .40cal will consistently group 5 shots inside an inch at 50yds. At 100yds wind is more of an issue but on a calm day I can keep it between 2 and 3". My current load is .395 with .18 pillow thicking over 70gr ff.
