Nice lot you got there. If you plan on using that fowler it would be a good idea to replace the nipple. Theyre often oversized from use, and can allow severe blowback that may damage the hammer. Soak it in Kroil or a good alternative for a week for a better shot at an easy removal.

Did you look closely on the top of barrel behind the rear sight? Often times thats where they were marked. Sometimes under the barrel. The lock may have been a replacement, not many brass originals that Ive seen.

    Help identifying this old barrel

I really dont think they used screws to hold sights in the 1800’s? I realize that may have been cobbed later, but Im not seeing any dovetails either. Id lean to it being more on the modern side.

    Bored out pedersoli?

Ive got a few pedersoli’s and havn’t found anything wrong with any of them. Why do you feel that you need to bore yours out? If the .50 bore is good, its probably more cost effective to sell your rifle and buy what you want.

    SOLD CVA Frontier Maple Stock

you’re right. I had just sold a frontier but it had a 24” barrel. I had no idea they made both carbines and rifles. Im assuming this stock has the wrong lock in it rather than being poorly inletted.
