    Pedersoli Upgrades?

I have always primed with the same powder I charged with. If I wanted to get into a competition I would invest in some f4 or flash powder before I spent money on a new lock.

    Gourd Powder Horns

I am designing as i go... thinking of a wood plug with an Oring and a piece of leather as a retainer. I should probably look on you tube.

    Gourd Powder Horns

I am actually in the process of making one. I'm using a small gourd, might hold half pound of powder. Mine is not historically correct since after cleaning the inside I poured in some polyurethane, to coat the insides. I think pioneers used bees wax as a sealant.

    pedersoli lock swap

Thanks Tasbay. What I have been able to decipher is the pistol locks will swap out with the rifle but the flash hole may not line up, due to different hammer sizes. I had my eyes on a perc pistol in 45 but now will hold off. I was wanting a smaller caliber anyhow.

    pedersoli lock swap

I am trying to determine if Pedersoli's Kentucky flintlock lock for their rifle would swap with the percussion lock of their Kentucky pistol. I own the rifle with a flint, am wanting the pistol with a flint but can only find the pistol with the percussion. Hoping to find someone who has done or...

New to flintlocks - Advice welcome

I opened the vent hole liner to a 1/16 size and it really made my ignition more reliable. I tried 5/64ths but decided i liked to 1/16th better based on the amount of fire exiting the larger vent. Using 3f with the 5/64ths vent, I quit priming the pan, since enough powder dribbled out during...

    Powder plug in barrel

What has worked for me with a stuck ramrod may work to pull the obstruction. I have used a strong boot lace and tied several half hitches on the ramrod then looped the lace over a suitable tree limb, so I could pull down on the rifle and use my weight, to free the ram rod.
