Good quality walnut, fit and finish very good, lines are very nice, and it shoots very accurately as long as I do my part. Only negatives are the bluing instead of the tradtional browning and the double-set trigger has some creep. Excellent value for the money.

triger creep, replace set screw with 5.5x8mm screw( from ace hard stores) rear sights get a rear sight from Traditions, for there pistol .360 dovetail, CLEAN the new gun as factory states before using. Touch hole liner drill out to 5/64 ths, helps fire it off everytime, 60 grns 3f, .15 patch .490 ball. Brake it in and it will make small groups! I have a flint and caplock set up like this and the will out shoot me.

Wood stock and furniture fit and finish was bad.

When my GPR came in I was a little disappointed. Had a few things that upset me. The finish on the wood stock was horrible. It was too dark and completely covered (obscured) the woodgrain. Had to lighten the stain. once that was done it looked great. The butt stock plate fit was not fitted properly. Not much I can doabout that.
Bottom line, if I wanted to build a gun I would havebought a kit. I thought I would have gotten a better product from InvestArms!!!

Every one knows all about the expected performance of GPR's, truely a quality product for a reasonable price. What most ignore is that the folks at Lymans given the muzzleloading community at large a great platform for creating rifles of any type. Left, right, fast, slow, primitive, scoped, offhand, bench. And GPR's are so very plentiful that you can find one for your special project at a great price. Now, if only someone made a drop-in full length stock...

Typical production rifle but it more imitates a Hawken rifle than a Thompson Center does. Mine has so-so wood and fit is also average. The biggest complaint with this gun is the lock. Apparently Lyman copied TC’s lock but copied the early one that had some problems, too. If you put a new model TC cock on the Lyman GPR it makes a big difference and I recommend doing. Mine shoots well and is getting better as it gets shot!

Got 2 of these. The first one was a fit & finish disaster; like Rafsob's above except maybe worse. Whole gun went back for warranty repair of multiple issues, then the lock went back later by itself. The gun still has a tilted trigger guard, but it sure can shoot RB. It's a bit long and heavy for tree-stand or blind hunting, however.
My second, bought used, was everything I'd hoped for. Fit and finish was fine and the stock very attractive.
I'd recommend this rifle only if it can be examined by the purchaser beforehand...or returned for full refund following examination.
Warranty support through Dixon's has been very good.

It needs to be worked on.

The Lock needs some fit and finishing adjustments - it works when adjusted.
I believe the stock was just stained and the owner manual states that - you can finish it how you like.
I look at it as an assembled kit gun (the price suggests that), and a good one when dressed up.
This is what I was looking for and it met all of my expectations, I give it a 10.
