The wife bought me the .54 GPR flint kit, while we were staying in our RV waiting for the house to sell. With only a picnic table to work on a couple of files, some steel wool and a ton of sandpaper, the kit came together very well. I used LMF to brown the metal. Turned on all the hot water in the RV's bathroom to get it nice and steamy. Then hang up the metal parts and let them rust. It gave me a nice brown finish. I put eight coats of boiled linseed oil on the stock. In all, it took me about three weeks, due to a lot of bad weather. I installed the primitive rear sight, but you have to peen the bottom of the sight to get a tight fit. I also drilled the vent liner to 5/64" to get positive ignition. She is a straight shooter that can plant them in the X-ring at 100 yards. It's my number 1 hunting rifle.
