Pedersoli SxS 12ga Stock

Looking for: I recently picked up a Pedersoli blackpowder side by side 12 gauge second hand. She is in great shape and shoots terrific, however after removing the butt plate it appears the previous owner attempted to lighten the stock by drilling the center and the job is not very good. I'm looking for a replacement for it. I'm hoping to save some money here as opposed to ordering it directly from a Pedersoli distributor.

Thank you for your time. Much appreciated.

I drilled a 1 in hole in my shotgun buttstock and poured a lb of lead in it.tames the recoil right down if you have a long shoot.

A stock for this may not be easy to come by.

Bondo would be fine for compressive forces but a stock sometimes suffers torsion, bending and stretching.

I would recommend smoothing out the drilled hole (get it as cylindrical as possible with minimal removal of wood and then either fiberglass (Acraglas) or epoxy a matching wood rod/insert into the hole. The result would probably be better in most respects than the original stock. You could also balance the shotgun as you see fit by judicious use of lead to replace part of the rearmost portion of the wood rod/insert.

Most any cabinet maker can point you to suitable hardwood doweling and provide good advice; some will do the work for you for a reasonable price. Another source not to be overlooked are those who repair guitars & violins. Many of these craftsmen are avid shooters & hunters.
