Double pouch pattern in Albert’s book??

There is a construction mistake on the little Tennessee bag too...the little flap piece goes on the outside of the pouch along the top seam, not sandwiched between the flap and back panel as shown...I apologize for the mistakes. sincerely, tc

Questions on Two Old Leather Tools

Although its considered traditional taboo to use shears on leather, I find them very handy. Fiskars softtouch are my choice...the kind with the big knuckle bow on bottom....I use an old "Stanley" carpenters style sliding beam marking gauge to mark the width of the strip, then cut it by "pushing"...

    Daniel Boone's (Fess Parker) Rifle??

I think the Fess Parker Davy Crockett rifle (an original Reading school Kentucky)was purchased from the "Stembridge Rental Ccollection" at auction a while ago...details were posted on a different site. The Fess Parker Boone rifle is a mystery to me, though I bet someone has a good idea of its...

Wheres the best place to get leather?

Kary..what Bill said...but about "buffed" leather, maybe its been actually buffed down to even and correct the flesh side. Other than that I have no idea what it means...to me,buffing leather means to shine and polish an applied wax coating...while buff leather refers to its color...and "buff"...

Wheres the best place to get leather?

I thought I should mention this just in case...high grade vegetable tanned tooling leather generally does not come pre-dyed and would be an unusual find in a second hand shop in any form indeed...not that its a bad thing, but even though chrome tanned pre-dyed modern commercial type leathers can...

18th Century Fur Trade Belt Axe

Axes of similar pattern ought to be found in the archaeological reports etc from various 18th century fur trade sites...it should be easy to find and note the dig site where similar patterns were found if they are there? I dont think its a pattern common to sites around the mid west or great...
