    Gun Building DVD's ...

That sounds like one I would be interested in owning ... I like having a solid background in the basics ... that kind of information builds confidence ... at least for me it does :) Thanks !!

    Gun Building DVD's ...

I have watched about half of the pistol DVD so far and some of the missing info might be on the rifle DVD's 1 and 2 as he refers back to them vs repetitive instruction. For instance if he shows you how to give the stock a hand rubbed finish and what products to use in DVD # 1 he doesn't...

    Gun Building DVD's ...

It's been umpteen years since I last built a TC Hawkens from a kit and I now have 3 stock blanks and 1 pre-carved stock waiting for me to do something. Either I didn't learn too much way back when or I forgot most of it  I got 3 of the James Turpin gun building DVD's from TOTW and...

    45 caliber opinions

I see we've had the same experiences  I'm not a big fan of the .50 because I like the .45 so much. Glad to see others enthusiastic about the .45 !

    45 caliber opinions

I'm a big fan of the .45 PRB ... we have small whitetails in my area and I would take a 75-80 yard shot with confidence maybe further depending on the conditions. Now a Mulie at 100 yards is another story so I guess it depends on where you are and what you are shooting at :) The .45 makes a...

    Dimmick rifles ...

I have a "Hawkens" type half stock that has more "drop" in it than what would be correct for a Hawkens rifle. Wanting to make this stock into something resembling a rifle of the past I have been doing a lot of research and much to my delight have found the Dimmick rifles :) Anyone have pics...

    Best long rifle, best caliber

I'm in the process of building a target and varmint rifle for myself ... the sweetest shooting barrel I ever owned was a PRB barrel in .45 caliber ... that .40 is tempting to me too but I'll get more duty out of the .45 and I think it is just as accurate :)

    characoal blue

Once I got the time this evening I went back and reread all of the information I have on Charcoal Blueing and the specific reference I found compared CB to Fire Blueing not rust blueing. Exact quote was "charcoal blueing covers the barrel surface with a relatively thick and tough oxide" so I...
