    Pistol/revolver of choice...........

Would you care to volunteer to test that statement? I have to disagree with the ROA being a copy of the R&S. IMHO the ROA is a copy of the 1858 with two piece Colt grips.

Uberti 1860 Army hand spring broke

I've had good luck at replacing hand springs with springs I make from feeler gauge steel. The hardest part of the job is opening the slot to fit the new spring. I ground a small chisel with a long taper for that job.

New To Me - Uberti 1858

Regardless of brand or others recommendations the best approach is to measure the chambers and use a RB that is .006 larger. That shaves a nice .003 ring and well ensure a sealed chamber. And as was said a larger contact area on the lands.

    Original Colt Casing Questions

The Willow wood lot was primary to supply charcoal for the furnaces for the case hardening process. The Willow furniture was to use up the small stuff, waste not, want not. I'll need to dig some books out but I do have one that was some case construction info. Generally the case bottoms were...

    Wads

This isn't a chain fire is it? It appears to be a night time shot. It also appears that the hammer was pushed back by when the revolver discharged and blew the cap off the nipple. LUBE GROOVES Colt recognized the importance of lube by the 1840's. The first Colt conical molds had no groove...

    Dragoon repair, any suggestions?

Is the hand rotating the cylinder before the bolt drops? That well bind it. Put more preload on the bolt leg at the cam button.

    Dragoon Lever Drop

This is a fairly common problem with the 1st, 2nd, and early 3rd model Dragoon. The late 3rd model Dragoon uses a Navy style latch for the loading lever. The fix the early style latch is a stronger spring. You can try filing a sharper and deeper notch for the latch first. Most of my dragoons...

Good report, maybe Pietta has been reading about wedges

    Colt Walker Original Finish

Naval jelly well leave a French Gray appearance. If you want the original in the white use vinegar or a commercial remover. The original Walker had CCH frame and loading lever, blued barrel and grip frame with the cylinder in the white. 2nd gen with cylinder in the white. Original with patina.

    Brass frame Rem 1858

Good point, very few brasser made it to the field compared to the steel frame counterparts. Counting all the different manufacturers you would have a number in the thousands, maybe. There are a few books that deal with just the brass frame CSA revolvers and even they don't agree on numbers...

That's a good deal if they have them in stock. I've seen used ones go for more.

    Roger & Spencer 44

The R&S is modified with a adjustable front sight. The barrel was notched for a low profile ramp with a dovetail. Then a brass sight was fabbed for the dovetail. This was done by the previous owner who used this revolver in comp shoots. The looong barreled Dragoon is here on my desk so I can...

    Howdah .58 cal

Start at about a 30gr load. 40-45 is getting near the top of the chart. I have the 20ga Howdah and shoot a .610 round ball w/.010 patch. 35grs is a comfortable load, I have loaded as high as 50grs, I would call that a heavy load.
