    touch hole liners

Thanks for the info, I drilled the liner to little over 1/16, and conned the side facing the lock (not too much). Will go shooting tomorrow, and if still not happy will drill and conne some more. My goal is to get this rifle to fire evrythime, even if already had 25 shots. I do like the idea of...

    touch hole liners

The fire channel where the vent liner screws into looks clear of any burrs. It must be the "dirt" build up, since lock is very quick and reliable at the begining of the night.

    touch hole liners

If you do not remove the liner, are you not going to get a build up at the breech and behind a vent?

    touch hole liners

My frontier has one of those patent breech, is there any articles or instructions on how to do this? In case I would want to do it. For now I will try drilling the vent some more, to see if this will help, but would like to find out about the modification to patent breech.

    touch hole liners

I do clean between shots, so far I found alcohol works better then other types of cleaning solutions (less problems with missfire)

    touch hole liners

Got few questions on liners. I shoot my rifle (pedersoli .54 frontier) at the range, I try for 20+ shoots per outing, I am having fast and reliable ignition for first 10 shoots or so, and ten it begins flush in the pen a lot, vent liner is drilled to 1/16. I try to clean and pick at the vent...

fired my rifle for a first time

After some delays, had a chance to go to a range and fire my .54 frontier, LOVE IT. Got 30 shots off, was shooting at 25 yards, and used 50, 60, 70 and 80 grains. At this range there was no difference that I was able to see. She fires straight but drops 7", my sights and/or me will need some...

    starting load

I maybe able to shoot my .54 pedersoli frontier this weekend if everything works as planned), and the question is what load combo would you start with? and how would you progress? I will be shooting indoors, at 25 yards and upto 50 yards. I have .530 balls to work with. Cheers

Cabelas Hawkens and Lyman GPR what is the difference?

Twist rate is not the same, GPR are 1in60 or 1in32, while hawken is 1in48. Can not say about the quality and finish, since I only had a GPR in my hands.

More ignition trouble with Lyman GPR

Since Pedersoli frontier flinter has a small patent breech also, would all the advice about GPR apply to frontier (ie: drill vent to 4/64 or 5/64, use 3f instead of 2f) Cheers

    pedersoli .54 frontier

Could I get at the breach with one of the smaller caliber brushes at the end of the rod? cheers

    pedersoli .54 frontier

Thanks for the replies, I will get some brake cleaner today, for the muzzle lubrication will TC Bore Butter work well, or should I be looking at something else? That PDF file is good and helps me understand how it all fits. Thanks again.

Hi, from what I have been reading here, don't use powder substitutes, use a real black powder in your rifle. Cheers
