Newly discovered problem with the GPR

Unfortunately, I find it difficult to load when using a loading block with a ramrod extending past the muzzle. At least with my .32 Crockett squirrel rifle. No big deal to remove the ramrod first considering it has to be pulled anyway. I just don’t like having to lay the ramrod down or lean it...

Newly discovered problem with the GPR

Actually, it can be problematic depending on the situation. I keep the cleaning jag on the ramrod of my .32 Crockett. But only due to I run a patch down the barrel after every 1-2 shots. More convenient in the woods. However, it also adds some issues. One of such is when putting the ML in the...

Newly discovered problem with the GPR

Or silicone it. That way it would be easier to remove if need be. On my Crockett squirrel rifle I prefer to keep the cleaning jag on the ramrod. That adds to the overall length. Depending on the specific jag, that might be enough for your situation to get it closer to the muzzle.

I hope the heck so. The main issue is with the darn knee. It’s been almost 5 months now since replacement and it still swells up big time whenever I’m on my feet much at all. At least the pain level isn’t as much as it was. Just stiff as a fence post. My guess that in another 11 more days when...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

That’s how I generally skin my squirrels as well. Only problem is, a shot through the body doesn’t work out so well. With a headshot it works out great. With that said, considering my cruddy vision, I’m lucky to hit the darn squirrel at all. So, most of the time I am for the biggest part I can...

How exactly do you use that contraption, Jim?

I have never even thought about that one. Perhaps if a padded gun case is available that’s long enough, bungee cord it down with one on the front rack and the butt stock on the rear rack. Might want to putt a little padding on each rack. My Crockett rifle isn’t all that long so I just lay it...

Pretty sure it’s a regional thing that’s found in the southern part of the country. I do not recall hearing of this up in Michigan nor did I see any squirrels that had wolves in them.

Good job on a fine hunt. To do that with a newly made rifle adds to it.

Well, the thicket from hell wasn’t too bad yesterday. Didn’t get in to very many blackberry bushes. Mostly saplings and brush. Light rain at first then just cloudy. Between everything being wet from all the previous rain, plus sweating, I didn’t have a dry thread on me. Even my high top leather...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

I’ve never seen a squirrel that looked like that. If I did, wherever it fell would be where it stayed. Buzzards and possums are not picky. As I have said, I do recall seeing one, maybe two squirrels from many years ago that had one or two bumps on them but nothing like in the image posted...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

So, the plan of action for the day is to go back to the thicket from hell and do more trail blazing. Rain in the forecast but it doesn’t bother me if I get wet. I’m hoping to open up enough paths to make it conducive for hunting with things all greened out. Not sure if that’s possible but I’m...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

In terms of what your dad used to say. I’ve said the same thing here many times. Hawks kill my chicken's, deer, squirrels and crows eat every apple off my apple tree and pear trees. About 4 years ago I would walk past my front window and look down the hill at my garden. Corn stalks were tall...
