    Over-stitch Wheel or Stitch Chisel?

An over stitch wheel is excellent for guiding your awl punches which makes for straight stitching which makes leatherwork look good. It still involves care and attention but I highly recommend using one along with an awl rather than just eyeballing your awl stabs, especially at first and...

Dixons Gun Makers Fair - accomodations?

Try Airbnb, room rentals should be cheap in that area

    Ball Bag

Can you post a picture of the bag you had made? That would help narrow down the maker.

    Brass wire

Here's a few I made out of regular brass hardware store wire, (maybe 14 or 12 gauge?), work hardened on a small vice anvil: https://instagram.com/p/BEBycfzIYvu/

20th Annual Shandaken Primitive Biathlon, Olivera, NY

A little late to post, but this weekend is the 20th Annual Shandaken Primitive Biathlon. This is a very fun event if you're within driving distance and have never attended. Besides the timed biathlon event, there's a few shooting and tomahawk throw contests on the side, and you can opt to do...

    Homemade Nipple?

I recently came across an old gun that had a grease fitting as a replacement nipple. This was an old rifle that could've been dated anywhere from 1850 to 1950, and could've been used that whole time by many hands. I can't tell you how it was installed or if it worked but it has been done.

Where to buy an entry level small caliber ML

I don't know if by "entry level" you mean cheap... But Jim Kibler is selling incredible squirrel gun kits that are easily assembled. They are about $800-900. In various small calibers and with all top quality parts.

    Tools in shot pouch

Here is a flint and tool wallet I just made, with typical tools and stuff someone might carry. The design and general pattern is pretty obvious from the pictures. This the bag and stuff I carry with a particular 50 caliber rifle when deer hunting. The rifle has a pair of grease holes in the...

    Horn at Dixon's

Bob thank you for the time you spend all weekend entering the items and helping the judges in the booth, it's hot and you're working hard. Let's not let the usual turd in the punch bowl derail this thread.

    Horn at Dixon's

Beautiful horn and congrats on having the stones to enter it into the judging. That's not an easy thing to do and if you don't have the right attitude it's not going to go well for the entrant. The judges at Dixons are not the be all end all horn gods and don't proclaim to be. They are simply...

    Ground Hog Hide Hunting Pouch

Compared to what, a rabbit? They skin plenty easy after you do it once or twice. And yes if you have a garden or a farm here in the northeast you basically have no choice but to kill them when you can. At least they make good bags!
