    want to buy a matchlock

    I shoot a 12 gauge .730 round ball Northwest chief grade Trade Gun and it is a handful. Split my lip a couple of times til I learned to really grip it. It is only 6 lbs. Good luck I have shot match locks and they are really fun, I will get one someday. Elglide

    recommendations for 1st BP rifle

    Absolutely the GPR, I just finished one in kit form ($350 from Midsouth shooters Supply plus shipping)Great looking and shoots lights out. I browned the barrel and hardware stained it almost black looks almost as good as a custom Hawken. You cant go wrong with Lyman.

    Cleaning BP with solvents?

    I use hydrogen peroxide, Rubbing Achohol and Murphys oil soap mixed 1/3 each, have used this for 30 years as well as everyone in my club. Would never put water in any firearm. My opinion.

    Gun shops in Ocala

    We shoot in Brooksville the 3rd Sunday of the month. About an hour and a half south of Ocala. Withlacoochee Muzzleloaders. Also off I-75 near Bushnell is the Dade battlefield where the Union Troops fought the Seminole tribe, kind of interesting.
