I finally got to shoot the 36 flinter i picked up for 125.00 dollars.using goex 3f it was hitting low at 50 yds (my club does not have a 25 yd range)I filed sight down and brought poi up about 4in. but grouping wasnt there.I retrieved some of my shot patches they were burnt thru so I dug thru my range box and found some .017 pillow ticking.and a small bottle of olive oilreloaded using 35 grs versus 30 hit the 3in. target sticker I picked up shot patch no burn thru shot two more with same load and hit target sticker both times.I wont shoot at a squirrel at fifty. yds so it should be good for a squirrel supper

Thanks stubshaft its amazing a .070 thick front sight covers a 3 in circle at 50 yds. Next trip to the range I'll take a small table and set up at 25 yds.If no one else is ther. I believe it will shoot a real tight group

Will they allow you to put a temporary target at the 25 yard mark?

No you have to shoot into the berm someone who is no longer a member put tin cans on top of the berm and was shooting them who knows where his rounds went

Our range has similar regulations. We allow shooting at shorter distance, provided that the frame is correct height for rounds to impact backstop berm area. Our range is slightly uphill. Most guys or girls, use a PVC homemade target stand to get inline with the berm. But....we also have a pistol area, where we can shoot out to 25 yds. Out backstop in that area is 15-20 feet high with sandbags on the top of the berm, to catch anything that bounces. But we also have a mountain, behind the range, but we do not rounds impacting open woods.

I have a couple 36's but neither are flint. Still fun little gun's to shoot.

Heck yeah man. Those 36s are some fun guns to shoot. Low recoil, easy on the lead and powder, able to be shot all day.

Now come join our forum postal match for this month.

Where are you? If anywhere near the center of the state, our club has 25, 50 and 100 yard ranges. We are the Lansing Muzzle Loading Gun Club, range location is in Laingsburg.

Im 16 miles from the ohio michigan border. The only club around here that shoots muzzleloaders consists mainly of the 3 pellet 3x9 kung fu grip plastic muzzle loader shooters

Depending on where you're on the border, Toledo Muzzleloader club may be an option. I used to belong there when I lived in the area.

Feel free to PM me for details.

Since I still have the photos in my flikr account, I'll post them again.

Yeah, if I was offered that rifle for $125, I'd be looking for forgiveness rather than waiting for permission.

I would have felt real guilty for all of maybe.....till the moment my car pulled out of the parking lot to take her home. Sweet deal.

Holy Smokes!!

I would have jumped on that deal in a heartbeat!!

Thanks For Sharing!

I do remember seeing the pix before, I just did not make the connection!!

Holy manure . . .you can't buy that lock for $125 . . let alone the whole rifle !! That's the deal of a lifetime.
